Adolescent obesity augments and impedes the treatment of chronic pain. This is associated with increased systemic inflammation more prominent in females. In addition, pain each independently affect hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. However, interaction on HPA axis potential for sexual dimorphism this phenomenon not established. We hypothesized that dysregulation occurs female human adolescents pain, obesity, or combination two gonadal steroids. measured serum cortisol, estradiol, testosterone 13–17-year-old adolescent females (N = 79) from venous blood drawn during daytime (0830–1730 h) analyzed data toto partitioned by morning vs. afternoon sampling time. Subjects were categorized as healthy weight/no (controls; BMI 56th percentile [37–71]), weight obese without (BMI 97th [95–99]), Serum cortisol was lower and/or compared to controls alone (healthy weight). The group afternoon. There no relationship between estradiol study group. decrease anti-inflammatory other pain-ameliorating effects may contribute its resistance concurrent adolescents.

Stress is associated with weight changes, yet how level and sources of stress relate to this association poorly understood. This mixed methods study examined associations between adolescent at the COVID-19 pandemic onset standardized BMI (BMIz) over a three-month period. Methods: Participants (N=197, mean age 13.66 ± 1.43 years, 85% Hispanic, 56% female) were recruited from charter school in Texas participate healthy lifestyle intervention during physical education class. We calculated BMIz using height measurements taken December 2019 week closures March 2020. measured 2020 4-item Perceived Scale. ran multiple linear regression model controlling for baseline (December 2019), age, sex, condition, assessed interaction PSS-4 score on change. Overall, our sample had an average seven decrease 0.04 observed significant BMIz. At lower scores, higher scores decreases time. There was no scores. pandemic-related concerns performance two primary stressors reported. The relation changes differed based starting status. Future interventions should consider influence external adherence outcomes.

Women with premenstrual syndrome (PMS) suffer heavily from emotional problems, the pathogenesis of which is believed to be related hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, autonomic nervous system (ANS) and central (CNS). We took into account all 3 aspects observed psychological, physiological biochemical correlations under anger sadness in college students without PMS. 33 PMS 24 healthy participated emotion induction experiment, were required fill out self-report scales. Their salivary cortisol (SCort), skin conductivity level (SCL), heart rate variability (HRV), blood pressure (BP) electroencephalogram (EEG) data collected at resting stage 10-15 minutes after each video. Compared controls, showed lower SCort higher VLF rest, no statistic difference activities ANS HPA axis videos, but different results EEG conditions. The decreases SBP during angry video, neutral increases θ band power sad video moderately correlated score. No intergroup differences found emotions. Students had activity possibly PNS response patterns CNS Several frequencies, especially band, specific encephalic regions as well declined dealing stressors, γ frontal lobe may play a role, moderate more severe
