Digital Twins of the Ocean (DTO) are a rapidly emerging topic that has attracted significant interest from scientists in recent years. The initiative, strongly driven by EU, aims to create digital replica ocean better understand and manage marine environments. Iliad project, funded under EU Green Deal call, is developing framework support multiple interoperable DTO using federated systems-of-systems approach across various fields applications areas, called pilots. This paper presents results Water Quality pilot located Trondheim fjord Norway. details building blocks DTO, specific this environmental monitoring pilot. A crucial aspect any data, which can be sourced internally, externally, or through hybrid utilizing both.
