Non-motor symptoms are prevalent among individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and seriously affect patient quality of life, even more so than motor symptoms. In the past decade, an increasing number studies have investigated non-motor in PD. The present study aimed to comprehensively analyze global literature, trends, hotspots research investigating PD through bibliometric methods. Studies addressing Web Science Core Collection (WoSCC), published between January 2013 December 2022, were retrieved. Bibliometric methods, including R package “Bibliometrix,” VOS viewer, CiteSpace software, used investigate visualize parameters, yearly publications, country/region, institution, authors, collate quantify information. Analysis keywords co-cited references explored trends hotspots. There was a significant increase publications PD, total 3,521 articles United States ranked first terms ( n = 763) citations 11,269), maintaining its leadership position all countries. Background: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder marked by motor impairments such as stiffness, involuntary shaking, and slowed movement. In addition, PD patients frequently experience nonmotor symptoms, especially depression. This study uses mixed-methods scientometric analysis to review global research trends advancements in vital for clinicians, researchers, policymakers, identifying knowledge gaps directing future efforts. Methods: We conducted comprehensive literature on depression using the Web of Science database from 2004 2023, facilitated CiteSpace 6.1.R6. Our examined collaborations among authors, institutions, countries, keywords, incorporating insights RCTs qualitative studies. calculated effect sizes confidence intervals with precision. Ethical approval was not required used publicly available data without personal information. Results: included 3048 papers 915 reviews, involving 17,927 authors 12,466 institutions. The United States University Toronto led publications. Studies revealed significant narrow intervals, particularly prevalence impact patients. High-frequency keywords “Parkinson’s disease,” “depression,” “quality life,” “non-motor symptom,” “dementia.” Visual mapping identified critical nodes directions. Conclusion: Over past 2 decades, PD-depression link has accelerated. highlights prevailing areas, providing evidence-based recommendations therapeutic strategies. offers valuable clinicians emphasizing priorities improve patient outcomes.

To examine the dose-response relationship between specific types of exercise for improving walking velocity in Parkinson's disease (PD). This systematic review and network meta-analysis included searches PubMed, Medline, Embase, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, Web Science were searched from inception until February 18th, 2024. Data analysis was performed using R software with MBNMA RJAGS packages. Outcome indicators measured as mean standard deviation (SMD) along 95% confidence intervals (95% CrI). The network's risk bias independently evaluated by two reviewers employing ROB2 tool. Our encompassed 54 studies 2,828 PD patients, examining effects different exercises on velocity. Aerobic Exercise (AE) demonstrated greatest improvement at an optimal dose 1,400 METs-min/week (SMD:1.215, Crl: 0.113 to 2.306). Both Multicomponent (Mul) (SMD: 1.202, 0.193 2.231) Sensory (SE) 0.649, 0.139 1.183) showed outcomes a 1,000 METs-min/week. Resistance Training (RT) most effective 750 (SMD:0.778, 0.062 1.549), while Mind-Body (MBE) yielded significant improvements lower 500 0.580, 0.218 1.137), offering valuable insights prescription management. Various benefits corresponding doses, among which AE speed patients Mets*min/week.Trial registration: PROSPERO (CRD42024506919).

Parkinson's disease (PD) has emerged as a major global public health challenge. However, there is currently lack of systematic analysis regarding the burden PD and its long-term trends among people over 55 years age. This study utilizes data from Global Burden Disease 2021 database to analyze prevalence, incidence, disability-adjusted life (DALYs), mortality rates in individuals aged older 1990 2021. The annual percentage change was calculated assess temporal burden. Point estimates their corresponding ranges were reported with 95% uncertainty intervals. Globally, DALYs, above significantly increased 2021, all indicators being higher males than females. trend evident across five Socio-Demographic Index (SDI) groups 21 regions worldwide. number prevalent cases, incident deaths showed significant increases positively correlated SDI (R = 0.645, P < 0.001). Among 185 countries, incidence rate increased, DALY rising 74 countries 65 countries. Notably, population 95 older, prevalence particularly remarkable increases, at 735% 505%, respectively. Furthermore, greatest increase observed 55-59 age group, especially Middle High-middle regions. indicates that past three decades. reflects profound impact aging socioeconomic development levels on PD, underscoring urgency addressing

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative with motor symptoms and non-motor impairments, including depression, observed in 2.7-90% of cases. Depression frequently underestimated diagnosed late due to its similarity disease, such as fatigue, sleep disturbances, hypomimia, etc. In approximately 25% patients, depression precedes symptoms, which may indicate connection the pathogenesis disease. The purpose study was analyze current data on pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment patients results have demonstrated that pathophysiological mechanisms include neurodegeneration dopaminergic, noradrenergic, serotonergic neurons, neuroinflammation, impaired neuroplasticity. For timely treatment, especially those changes or should be regularly examined. Treatment based multimodal approach includes use supportive psychotherapy pharmacotherapy. Alternative methods exercise, cognitive behavioral therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, electroconvulsive therapy are also being explored. Thus, requires an individualized approach. Further research into this problem crucial develop improve patient management algorithms.

Neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders are frequently associated with gastrointestinal (GI) co-pathologies. Although the central enteric nervous systems (CNS ENS, respectively) have been studied separately, there is increasing interest in factors that may contribute to conditions affecting both systems. There compelling evidence serotonin (5-HT) play an important role several gut–brain disorders. It well known 5-HT essential for development functioning of CNS. However, most body's produced GI tract. A deeper understanding specific effects on provide basis new therapeutic targets. This review summarizes current data focusing ENS motility, particular emphasis novel aspects signaling where CNS comorbidities common, such as Parkinson's disease depressive
