Neurological dysfunction induced by fluoride contamination is still one of major concern worldwide. Recently, neuroprotective roles silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1) focusing on mitochondrial function have been highlighted. However, what SIRT1 exerts and the underlying regulative mechanisms, remain largely uncharacterized in such neurotoxic process fluoride.

Sleep is essential to animals with circadian rhythms. deprivation causes serious pathophysiological consequences, such as DNA damage and oxidative stress. Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) a bioactive food ingredient antioxidant properties. Here, we used zebrafish continuous swimming paradigm sleep model investigate the effect of PQQ on damage. We found that neuronal activity increase following deprivation. pretreatment reduced in dorsal pallium. As an antioxidant, effectively inhibited reactive oxygen species (ROS) production induced by 2,2′-azobis-2-methyl-propanimidamide dihydrochloride (AAPH) deprivation, upregulated expression genes sod1 gpx4b. Also, ameliorated decreased silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1) level, suggesting may remove excessive ROS activating SIRT1, thereby reducing within neurons. This study indicates has strong function, provides ideas for further development ingredients recovery.

The "Cell Cycle Hypothesis" suggests that the abnormal re-entry of neurons into cell division cycle leads to neurodegeneration, a mechanism supported by in vitro studies on neuronal-like cells treated with hyperphosphorylating agent forskolin. Pterostilbene, bioavailable compound found foods such as blueberries and grapes, may exert neuroprotective effects could serve potential adjunct therapy for neurodegenerative diseases.
