Abstract
Current
research
in
industrial
microbiology
and
biotechnology
focuses
on
the
production
of
biodegradable
microbial
polymers
as
an
environmentally
friendly
alternative
to
still
dominant
fossil
hydrocarbon-based
plastics.
Bacterial
cellulose
(BC)
is
important
among
due
its
valuable
properties
broad
applications
variety
fields
from
medical
technologies.
However,
increase
BC
wider
deployment
limited
by
high
costs
traditionally
used
raw
materials.
It
therefore
necessary
focus
less
expensive
inputs,
such
agricultural
by-products
or
waste
including
more
extended
use
glycerol.

The
experimental

obtained
so
far
confirm
that

can

review

used,
nutrient

composition,
cultivation
conditions,
bioprocess
productivity.

Plastic
