Digesters at water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs) operating different temperatures within the mesophilic and thermophilic temperature range is a flexibilization concept to contribute heat management. Four 25 L digesters were fed with sewage sludge from municipal WRRF operated 37, 43, 47 53 °C, respectively, describe changes in overall process performance microbiota. Specific methane yield COD degradation rates highest only being up 7% higher compared 37 °C.
