In traditional lateral flow immunoassays (LFIA) for pathogens detection, capture antibody (CA) is necessary and usually conjugated to Au nanoparticles (NPs) in order label the target analyte. However, acquisition process of Au–CA nanoprobe relatively complicated costly, which will limit application LFIA. Herein, p-mercaptophenylboronic acid-modified NPs (namely Au–PMBA nanocrabs), were synthesized applied a new CA-independent LFIA method. The stable nanocrabs showed outstanding capability both Gram-negative bacteria Gram-positive through covalent bonding. acquired Au–PMBA–bacteria complexes dropped onto strip, then captured by detection on test line (T-line). Take Escherichia coli O157:H7 as an example, gray value T-line was proportional concentration linear range 103–107 cfu·mL–1. This strategy exhibited higher sensitivity than CA-dependent double sandwich method, because former one 103 cfu·mL–1 only visual observation, reduced 3 orders magnitude. Besides, this platform successfully screened E. four food samples with recoveries ranging from 90.25% 107.25%. great advantages satisfactory potential rapid foodborne real samples.

Abstract Despite extensive commercial and regulatory interventions, food spoilage contamination continue to impose massive ramifications on human health the global economy. Recognizing that such issues will be significantly eliminated by accurate timely monitoring of quality markers, smart sensors have garnered significant interest as platforms for both real‐time, in‐package on‐site testing. In cases, sensitivity, stability, efficiency developed are largely informed underlying material design, driving focus toward creation advanced materials optimized applications. Herein, a comprehensive review emerging intelligent in this space is provided, through lens three key markers – biogenic amines, pH, pathogenic microbes. Each sensing platform presented with targeted consideration contributions metallic or polymeric substrate mechanism detection performance. Further, real‐world applicability works considered respect their capabilities, adherence, potential. Finally, situational assessment current state technologies discussing material‐centric strategies address existing limitations, concerns, considerations.

Foodborne microorganisms are an important cause of human illness worldwide. Two-thirds foodborne diseases caused by bacterial pathogens throughout the globe, especially in developing nations. Despite enormous developments conventional pathogen detection methods, progress is limited assay complexity and a prolonged time-to-result. The specificity sensitivity assays for live may also depend on nature samples being analyzed immunological or molecular reagents used. Bacteriophage-based biosensors offer several benefits, including to their host organism, only pathogens, resistance extreme environmental factors such as organic solvents, high temperatures, wide pH range. Rapid and sensitive detection of foodborne pathogenic bacteria is particularly important for the prevention control diseases.
