The omnipresence of microplastics and nanoparticles has led to their entry into the fresh marine aquatic systems affected biota. present study aims evaluate impact interaction polyethylene microplastic (PE-MPs) zinc oxide (ZnO-NPs) in mosquito fish, Gambusia holbrooki. For this, fish were exposed 100 µg L−1 PE-MPs (group 2), 200 3), 50 ZnO-NPs 4), combined with 5), 6) control 1) for 14 days. assessment was made through accumulation studies (MPs Zn) antioxidant assay. Significant elevation activity catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, reductase levels observed alone combination (100 L−1) groups only. High malondialdehyde all groups. Concordantly total (TAN) displayed a significant reduction treated compared control. Accumulation on suggested liver-targeted PE-MPs, while ZnO-NPs, assisted accumulation. affirms induction oxidative stress ZnO-NPs-induced toxicity facilitated by fish.

The uses and applications of nanoparticles in our daily lives on an industrial scale are rapidly expanding as a result scientific technological advancements. production application the subjects nanotechnology. worldwide use is increasing because their potential antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, wound healing properties. ZnO (ZnO-NPs) very popular source plastics, ceramics, glass, rubber paints, food due to high UV light absorption reflective characteristics. Nonetheless, high-water solubility ZnO-NPs increases toxicity aquatic habitats. Concerns about not restricted possible negative impact they could have specific ecosystems, notably ones. These concerns also include influence health species that live these which has knock-on effect affects human health. For reasons, this review article aims carefully document related occurrence water, reflects fish fish-food organisms.

Biomarkers play a pivotal role in monitoring the ecological integrity of aquatic environments. They offer valuable insights into impacts pollutants and environmental stressors on health ecosystems. By assessing changes biomarker levels or activities, scientists can effectively identify quantify exposure to effects contaminants. This review illustrates different types classes biomarkers their application understanding how affect organisms at molecular, cellular, organismal levels. In addition, integrating with assessments is discussed, emphasizing importance considering multiple biological organization monitoring. Additionally, this discusses recent advancements research through development novel biomarkers, integration omics technologies, bioinformatics, real-time monitoring, assessments, risk assessment management.

The increasing use of nano-based products raises concerns regarding potential risks related to their manufacturing, transportation, waste disposal, and management operations. We used the riverine carp, Capoeta capoeta, as an aquatic animal model demonstrate acute toxicity silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs). This study focuses on first, then integrates findings through histopathology, hematological, biochemical testing lethal sub-lethal Ag-NPs exposures. Red blood corpuscles (RBC), white (WBC), hematocrit, total serum glucose levels were significantly lower in Ag-NPs-exposed fish than control fish. Total protein, triglycerides, cholesterol, albumin all greater exposed research focused impacts gills liver tissue, it was found that level injury escalated concentration Ag NPs increased. Epithelial lifting secondary lamellas (ELSL), epithelial hypertrophy (EH) lamellae (SL), leukocyte infiltration (LI), bottom hyperplasia (BH) detected In Ag-NPs-treated cross-sections macrophage aggregates (MA), fatty (FL), sinusoid dilatation (SD), necrosis (N) identified. dosages, according biomarker representations, elicit stress-specific physiological effects, compromising general overall health status animals. gradients toxic responses across exposure concentrations portrayals disrupted with nanoparticle time indicate a reduced ability for surviving wild.

Abstract The aquaculture sector is facing environmental issues because of rising chemical pollution aquatic systems, which may be caused by man-made or natural causes. combined action these mixtures can produce an effect that either severalfold higher lower than the overall toxicity individual components. objective this study to evaluate impact three toxicants: lead (Pb 0.088 mg L −1 ), mercury (Hg 0.084 and pendimethalin (PM 0.355 ) their combinations on behavior, oxidative stress, immunology, biochemistry, histopathological changes in Nile tilapia. results show mortality was evident across all treatment groups highest mixture (MIX) group, at 33.4%. Some behavioral included increased mucus secretion, fin rot, dark skin coloration fish, were evidently exacerbated MIX group. erythrocyte hemoglobin indices presented marked reductions PM comparison control group had levels serum creatinine urea, as well liver enzymes alanine aminotransferase, aspartate transaminase, alkaline phosphatase. They also malondialdehyde total antioxidant capacity, showed stress. stress biomarkers, cortisol glucose, greater groups. neurobehavioral assessment demonstrated noticeable decreased acetylcholinesterase MIX-exposed In immunological parameters, nitric oxide lysozyme lower, especially experimental groups, spleen pro-inflammatory cytokine genes higher. examination revealed lesions gills, liver, brains form inflammation, necrosis, circulatory alterations. Among exposed exhibited changes. Collectively, our findings significant toxic effects heavy metals herbicides tilapia, revealing a synergistic both physiological responses resulting from exposures. data indicate ecological hazards associated with ecosystems.

Disrupted behavior and respiratory distress effects of 96-h acute deltamethrin exposures in adult Mozambique tilapia, Oreochromis mossambicus, were investigated using behavioral indices opercular movement, respectively. Deltamethrin concentrations found to be associated with toxicological (lethal sublethal) responses. At 24, 48, 72, 96 h, the LC50 values 95% confidence limits 12.290 (11.174-14.411 µg/L), 12.671 (11.334-15.649 10.172 (9.310-11.193 8.639 (7.860-9.417 The GUTS-model analysis showed that GUTS-SD (stochastic death) a narrow tolerance distribution exposed O. mossambicus populations was more sensitive than GUTS-IT (individual tolerance) model. Prior death, fish demonstrated concentration-dependent mortality disturbed responses, including uncoordinated swim motions, increased mucus secretion, unbalanced unpredictable swimming patterns, inactivity. altered patterns movement levels exposure time are strongly suggestive neurotoxicity distress, Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs), describing biological mechanisms plausible pathways, highlighted oxidative stress cholinergic as intermediate steps linked toxicity.
