Diabetic cataract (DC) surgery carries risks such as slow wound healing, macular edema, and progression of retinopathy is faced with a deficiency effective drugs. In this context, we proposed protocol to evaluate the drug's efficacy using lipid droplets (LDs) marker. For purpose, fluorescent probe PTZ-LD for LDs detection developed based on phenothiazine unit. The displays polarity-dependent emission variations, i.e., lower polarity leading stronger intensity. Especially, exhibits photostability superior that Nile Red, commercial staining dye. Using probe, formation in DC-modeled human lens epithelial (HLE) cells validated, interplay LDs-LDs LDs-others are investigated. Unexpectedly, transfer between visualized. Moreover, therapeutic various drugs HLE assessed. Ultimately, more were found tissues from DC patients than first time. We anticipate work can attract attention important roles during progression.
