Abstract High-molecular-weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HMW-PAHs) are an important group of persistent organic pollutants. Bioremediation has emerged as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly technique to remediate HMW-PAH contamination. In this study, we conducted comprehensive bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer software on dataset comprising 3009 relevant publications retrieved from the Web Science database. Our specifically focused exploring research landscape bioremediation strategies for common HMW-PAHs, denoted BC-HMW-PAHs. By employing cocitation analysis, co-occurrence clustering unveiled knowledge foundation BC-HMW-PAH research, with notable contributions renowned academic journals such Applied Environmental Microbiology, Chemosphere, & Technology. The in field is interdisciplinary includes fields environmental science, biotechnology, applied microbiology, engineering, toxicology. key themes identified encompass PAHs, biodegradation, benzo[a]pyrene, bioaugmentation, degradation. Based insights our presented five recommendations: in-depth exploration degradation mechanisms specific thorough comprehension microbial metabolic pathways, investigation into toxicity products implementation experiments scale-up applications, establishment long-term monitoring assessment protocols.
