Facing the increasingly serious energy and environmental problems, research development of new storage technology environment-friendly materials are imminent. As a typical lead-free ferroelectric with excellent dielectric properties, (Bi,Na)TiO3 (BNT) is supposed to be most potential competitive ceramic material has become hotspot for in recent years. This paper first briefly introduces basic physical principles performance evaluation parameters materials, then summarizes critical systems related progress BNT-based (bulk ceramics, films multilayer ceramics) from aspects ions doping modification multi-component composite optimization, finally looks forward improvement direction application prospect relaxor materials.

Designing superb dielectric capacitors is valuable but challenging since achieving simultaneously large energy-storage (ES) density and high efficiency difficult. Herein, the synergistic effect of grain refining, bandgap widening, domain engineering proposed to boost comprehensive ES properties by incorporating CaTiO3 into 0.92NaNbO3 -0.08BiNi0.67 Ta0.33 O3 matrix (as abbreviated NN-BNT-xCT). Apart from refining multiple local distortions embedded in labyrinthine submicro-domains, as indicated diffraction-freckle splitting ½-type superlattices, produce slush-like polar clusters for NN-BNT-0.2CT ceramic, which should be ascribed coexisting P4bm, P21 ma, Pnma2 phases. Consequently, a recoverable Wrec ≈ 7.1 J cm-3 η 90% at 646 kV cm-1 achieved ceramic. Such hierarchically structure favorable properties, provide strategy developing high-performance capacitors.
