Abstract
This
review
explores
the
evolving
landscape
of
G‐protein‐coupled
receptor
(GPCR)‐based
genetically
encoded
fluorescent
indicators
(GEFIs),
with
a
focus
on
their
development,
structural
components,
engineering
strategies,
and
applications.
We
highlight
unique
features
this
indicator
class,
emphasizing
importance
both
sensing
domain
(GPCR
structure
activation
mechanism)
reporting
(circularly
permuted
protein
(cpFP)
fluorescence
modulation).
Further,
we
discuss
approaches,
including
selection
suitable
cpFPs
expression
systems.
Additionally,
showcase
diversity
flexibility
application
by
presenting
summary
studies
where
such

used.

that

when
