Urbanization, industrialization and other human-related activities discharge various inorganic organic toxic compounds into the environment. Many physical, chemical biological methods have been practiced, to treat contaminated wastewater: among these, method of wastewater treatment by utilizing algae has reviewed widely. However, removal efficacy monoculture is low, as compared consortium systems. The presence microorganisms such fungi or bacteria in can establish relationships, mutualism symbiosis with algae, which help from wastewater, thus acting a system. Heterotrophic segregate natural matter, released form dissolved carbon, releases carbon dioxide, utilized for photosynthesis. In accordance existing studies, microalgal consortiums occurring naturally crafted artificially be treatment; therefore, present review provides an outline symbiotic relationships between microorganisms, their applications treatment. Various mechanisms—such mutualism, commensalism parasitism—for different pollutants systems elucidated this review; moreover, addresses challenges that are restricting large-scale implementation these consortiums, demanding more research enable enhanced commercialization.

Persulfate based advanced oxidation processes (PS-AOPs) have been regarded as a mainstream degradation technology of organic compounds due to their high efficiency in wastewater treatment. In particular, peroxymonosulfate (PMS) has unique structure and chemical properties, which can be efficiently activated by Co-based catalysts produce active species with potential. These usually determine the subsequent an efficient process, while intrinsic reaction mechanism behind this complex process remains unclear therefore impedes continual development scientific community. Recently, density functional theory (DFT) calculations emerged powerful means identify electronic properties distinguish energy changes PMS activation system. With assistance quantum calculation, increasing investigations conducted focusing on explaining phenomenon that occurred experiments. In recent years, many researchers have focused on designing hydrogels with specific functional groups that exhibit high affinity for various contaminants, such as heavy metals, organic pollutants, pathogens, or nutrients, environmental parameters. Novel approaches, including cross-linking strategies and the use of nanomaterials, been employed to enhance structural integrity performance desired hydrogels. Novel heterojunctions associating graphitic carbon nitride g-C3N4 and S-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were successfully designed prepared via a hydrothermal method used for photocatalytic degradations. The loading in S-TiO2 on was varied (5, 10 20 wt%), the photocatalysts characterized by XRD, FT-IR, solid-state UV-visible diffuse reflectance, photoluminescence, XPS, TEM SEM. (5%)/g-C3N4 catalyst exhibits highest activity degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under visible light irradiation. high performance originates from enhanced separation transfer photogenerated charge carriers. photocatalyst is stable can be reused five times without sharp drop activity, indicating its potential wastewater remediation.
