Abstract
Several
factors,
including
environmental
degradation,
air
pollution,
intense
urbanization,
excessive
agriculture,
and
climate
change,
endanger
the
well-being
of
animals
plants.
One

an
increasingly

is
agricultural

pesticides
antibiotics.

are
shown
to

limits
in
most
cases.

acetylcholine
receptors,

affecting
honey
bees’

Nowadays,
there

unwanted
effects

element
contamination

honey
bees
inhabiting
urban
areas
around
the
South
Pacific's
largest
and
longest
operating
nickel
smelter
Nouméa,
New
Caledonia.
There
remains

paucity
of
research
on
environmental
impact
smelting,
to
date,
there
has
been
no
assessment
its
effects
popular
practice
beekeeping,
or
whether
are
suitable
tracer
for
smelting
emissions.
Honey
were
sampled
from
15
hives
across
Nouméa
ascertain
linkages
between
emissions,
contamination,
uptake
by
bees.
Comparison
washed
unwashed
revealed
significant
difference
concentrations,
indicating
elements
bioaccumulate

tissues
over
