Purpose While it is known that digital transformation facilitates data flow in supply chains, its importance on green chain management (GSCM) has not been investigated concisely. This paper aims to expand the theory of GSCM by investigating interconnections between these concepts and providing an integrative view a smart (Smart GSCM). Design/methodology/approach adopts configurational perspective (SCM) investigate different dimensions Smart their contribution performance. Therefore, this analyzes from 473 manufacturing companies using regression techniques. Findings The results show how contributes performance through managing relationships (external activities) establishing operations (internal activities). Furthermore, finds partial mediating effects for external internal activities These findings (i.e. strategy front-end technologies, supported several back-end technologies) directly associated with higher levels GSCM. It specifically one operations, namely, purchasing activities. Hence, suggest alone insufficient achieve performance, needing configuration mediate effect. Practical implications study calls attention managers should integrate at least three perspectives SCM: transformation, increase Originality/value As main contribution, provides holistic understanding mechanisms

Emergence of industry 5.0 facilitates real-time synchronisation production processes, which helps with the customized products. Although can revolutionize landscape goods production, still its adoption is in infancy stage. Hence, purpose this article to examine barriers that impede 5.0, and propose solution initiatives (SIs). After an in-depth literature review interviews German experts pharmaceutical sector, SIs are ranked using integrated Analytical hierarchy process-elimination choice expressing reality-decision-making trial evaluation laboratory (AHP-ELECTRE-DEMATEL) approach. "Linking virtual reality reality" found be most critical deterrent falls into a causal group, signifies their influence on other deterrents. "Measures for better connectivity patients" utmost importance firms ensure secure communication safeguard patient data. The findings also highlight problems high-tech innovations due lack standardization fair benchmarking policies 5.0. This concludes by proposing framework. inhibitors adopting were investigated article, results will assist practitioners decision makers understand issues help potential adopters technology look SIs. therefore pave path effective across manufacturing sector.

The new Industry 5.0 paradigm complements the well-known 4.0 approach by specifically driving research and innovation to facilitate transition sustainable, human-centric resilient industry. In manufacturing context, workers' diversity in terms of experience, productivity physical capacity represents a significant challenge for companies, especially those characterized high staff turnover manual processes with workload poor ergonomics. seeking address such challenges, this adopts perspective define flexible job arrangements developing multi-objective rotation scheduling model. proposed model is unique that it aims achieve multiple assignment objectives simultaneously considering different socio-technical factors: limitations, postural ergonomic risks, noise vibration exposure, boredom. model's implementation real environments can be supported sensor-based technologies collect data on efficiency, scores task performance enable workers participate measuring perceived fatigue primary goal our find most appropriate individual-flexible rest-break plan each worker. authors test application an industrial setting. Useful managerial insights emerge prescriptive recommendations are provided.

Purpose This paper focuses on understanding the contribution of Industry 4.0 technologies to manufacturing flexibility. Design/methodology/approach A multiple-case study was conducted through interviews and complementary data from 12 adopters industrial sector. To enable a broad perspective, cases 5 industry sectors with different technological intensity levels were studied. Findings The findings show that are mostly used improve machine flexibility since there is major focus approaches rather than wider results also showed cloud services, IoT, analytics provide basis for flexible operation, collaborative robots, ERP/MES/PLM, AGVs, traceability devices most commonly implemented However, inherent contingency factors such as production complexity product life cycle need be considered. Originality/value article expands research flexibility, considering new capabilities introduced by 4.0.

Order picking in warehouses is a labour- and time-intensive logistical process that significantly impacts the efficiency of supply chains. Although technical progress facilitates automation specific order tasks, human workers remain primary actors picking. Owing to high operating costs associated with manual picking, its design management have been increasingly researched for decades. Because systems are socio-technical systems, factors workers’ interaction technology essential operational success. As innovative technologies become utilised, such as augmented reality or exoskeletons, warehouse managers need consider effects supportive substitutive on outcomes. However, potentials obstacles using require further investigations. Therefore, this study analyses literature content investigates existing state research field. Text mining employed enhance insights regarding analysis. Additionally, future opportunities integration proposed improvement development sustainable human-centered logistics according Industry 5.0 vision.

Abstract The present study addresses two critical controversies surrounding the emerging Industry 5.0 agenda. Firstly, it seeks to elucidate driving forces behind accelerated momentum of agenda amidst ongoing digital industrial transformation. Secondly, explores how agenda’s sustainability values can be effectively realised. conducted a comprehensive content-centric literature synthesis and identified 4.0 shortcomings adversely impacted values. Furthermore, implements novel approach that determines in what order functions should leveraged promote objectives 5.0. Results reveal has benefited economic environmental most at organisational supply chain levels. Nonetheless, micro meso-social have been by 4.0. Similarly, worryingly detrimental macro like social or growth equality. These contradictory implications pulled However, results nine that, when appropriately correct order, offer important for realising socio-environmental goals For example, under extreme unpredictability business world uncertainties, first leverage automation integration capabilities gain necessary cost-saving, resource efficiency, risk management capability, antifragility allow them introduce sustainable innovation into their model without jeopardising survival. Various scenarios empowering knowledge practice.
