Lipid
membranes
form
the
primary
structure
of
cell
and
serve
as
configurable
interfaces
across
numerous
applications
including
biosensing
technologies,
antifungal
treatments,
therapeutic
platforms.
Therefore,
modification
lipid
by
additives
has
important
consequences
in
both
biological
processes
practical
applications.
In
this
study,
we
investigated
a
nicotinic-acid–based
gemini
surfactant
(NAGS)
chemically
tunable
molecular
additive
for
modulating
phase
behavior
liposomal
membranes.
We
specifically
focused
on
NAGS
with
hydrocarbon
chains
that
mirror
those
molecules.
By
introducing
to
phosphatidylcholine
lipids
identical
varied
chain
lengths
or
degrees
unsaturation,
demonstrated
effects
headgroup
interactions
mismatch
between
membrane
lipids.
Using
small-angle
X-ray
scattering,
showed
regardless
compatibility
mismatch,
reduced
thickness
packing
density
fluid
Further
observations
fluorescence
microscopy
revealed
emergence
ordered-disordered
domains
upon
cooling
room
temperature.
The
observed
phases
were
quite
distinct
from
analogous
compositions,
emphasizing
importance
chemistry
mediating
domain
formation
stabilization.
These
findings
open
new
possibilities
exploiting
tuning
organization
potential
drug
delivery
biomedical
imaging.

During
previous
stages
of
research,
high
biocidal
activity
toward
microorganism
archival
strains
has
been
used
as
the
main
indicator
in
development
new
antiseptic
formulations.
Although
this
factor
remains
one
most
important
characteristics
biocide
efficiency,

antimicrobial
resistance
spread
causes
serious
concern.
Therefore,

with
a
stable

Here,
we
introduce
an
original
isocyanuric
acid
alkylation
method

available
alkyl
dichlorides,
which
opened
access
to
wide

multi-QACs
chains

lengths
between
nitrogen
atoms
triazine
and
pyridine
cycles.
We
complex
approach
for
resulting
series
17
compounds,
including
their
antibiofilm
properties,
bacterial
tolerance
development,
multiresistant
pathogenic
strains.
As
result
these
efforts,
compounds
have
shown
higher
levels
antibacterial
against
ESKAPE
pathogens
than
widely
commercial
QACs.
Hit
possessed
clinical
also
demonstrated
long-term
without
significant
tolerance.

Novel
cationic
amphiphiles
