New hybrid liposomes based on cationic amphiphiles with different structures of the head group (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), 3-hexadecyl-1-hydroxyethylimidazolium (IA-16(OH)), 1-(butylcarbamoyl)oxyethyl-3-hexadecylimidazolium (IAC 16(Bu)), and hexadecylmethylpyrrolidinium (PR-16)) were developed for transdermal administration nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. A synthesis procedure and aggregation properties of a new homologous series dicationic gemini surfactants with dodecane spacer two carbamate fragments (N,N'-dialkyl-N,N'-bis(2-(ethylcarbamoyloxy)ethyl)-N,N'-dimethyldodecan-1,6-diammonium dibromide, n-12-n(Et), where n = 10, 12, 14) were comprehensively described. Abstract The review focuses on the lipid based nanocarriers, with special attention paid to natural bioactive payloads. First, micelles and microemulsions are considered as very attractive colloidal nanocontainers that allow for marked improving solubility of hydrophobic bioactives. Further, liposomal vehicles reviewed, both advantages limitations discussed. Literature assay covers up-to-date information about last three five years, although brief background is given pioneer works addressing liposomes their evolution from bench bedside. One of the main problems in treatment poisoning with organophosphorus (OPs) inhibitors acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is low ability existing reactivators AChE that are used as antidotes to cross blood-brain barrier (BBB). In this work, modified cationic liposomes were developed can penetrate through BBB and deliver reactivator pralidoxime chloride (2-PAM) into brain. Liposomes obtained on basis phosphatidylcholine imidazolium surfactants. To obtain composition optimized terms charge, stability, toxicity, molar ratio surfactant/lipid was varied.
