In this article, we establish properties that relate quantiles of the log-skew-normal distribution to its parameters, allowing us investigate relationship between a positive skewed response variable and set explanatory variables via linear regression model. We compute maximum likelihood estimates parameters through correspondence skew-normal models. Monte Carlo simulations show satisfactory performance quantile estimators. An application children’s data is presented discussed.

Abstract Background Depressive symptom among college students is a public health issue worthy of attention. Most the current analyses factors associated with use traditional linear regression, which cannot be mined for more information. Our research uses quantile regression to explore detailed picture influencing factors. Methods From November 26 December 6, 2022, cross-sectional survey was conducted at six universities in China, cluster sampling method adopted, and 3,156 were sampled 2,580 valid questionnaires obtained after screening process. The study analyzed data using SPSS 26.0. Results results participants showed prevalence 43.6%. Quantile that gender, hometown, frequency contact family, breakfast, social support, interpersonal sensitivity, psychological capital. Social support capital positively symptom, sensitivity negatively symptom. And degree correlation varied by quartile points, capital, being strongly correlated when points higher. Conclusion findings identified number influence depressive different quartiles help address students. Severely depressed are likely receive negative effects positive therefore there need pay attention these severely
