The high frequency of fires in mires during the formation some mire systems Jurassic is thought to have influenced how terrestrial ecosystems evolved. Ancient mires, now present as coal seams, contain high-resolution paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic records. Thus, analysis beds provides valuable, insightful practical knowledge on changes paleoclimate and, this case, fire prevalence. Using petrographic, carbon isotopic, mercury content, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) determinations, Middle No. 4 Coal from Binchang mining area, Ordos Basin, was examined order understand nature mires. results show that exhibits a content inertinite (average 70%). Notably, correlation coefficient (r = 0.79) between concentration PAH (with >3 rings) proportion indicates predominantly result fire. presence natural char coke coals further substantiates frequent incidence southern Basin. High can be attributed availability fuel (i.e., buildup organic material), atmospheric oxygen levels, intermittent dry climatic conditions. average mean reflectance (specifically, fusinite semifusinite) bed ranges 1.22% 1.90%, well pyrogenic PAHs, suggesting their may been affected by low- moderate-temperature significant impacts hydrological ecosystems. These effects included disruption soil structure post-fire, possible occurrence anoxic events lakes.

The study of coal seams provides valuable insights into the environmental changes that have occurred throughout Earth's geological history. Coal formation was notably widespread during Jurassic period in mid-latitude East Asia. To reconstruct paleoenvironmental conditions prevailing peat Turpan-Hami Basin, China, we conducted a comprehensive 44 Middle samples. Our investigative approach encompassed petrographic analysis, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to compare our findings with existing literature. Biomarkers from steranes diterpenes suggest OM coals No. 4 seam predominantly originated terrestrial higher plants, conifers being one important sources OM. Vitrinite reflectance, hopane, sterane maturity biomarkers indicate most samples exhibit low thermal maturity. Previous studies suggested No.4 formed saline water environment based on trace element indicators. However, this study, biomarker analysis (low gammacerane index, high Pr/Ph ratio, sulfur content), suggests accumulation freshwater environments. anomaly indicators previous may be attributed introduction elements overlying strata via surface (groundwater) or hydrothermal fluids. Since vegetation depositional environments indicated by are more consistent setting, offer reliable indication compared

Coal seams, as a terrestrial carbon sink, are not only important sedimentary and energy mineral resources but also excellent recorders of paleoclimate change. The study coal-bearing strata is particularly significant in exploring the relationship between geological records orbital forcing. However, understanding coal seams different sources organic matter astronomical cycles incomplete. This focuses on Dameigou Formation, typical Jurassic seam Qaidam Basin, Northwestern China. Organic petrology analysis, biomarker whole-rock analysis were combined to reconstruct vegetation types paleolake water level changes during deposition. In addition, using time-series method high-precision gamma-scanning data from Well D1, we established floating timescale time-depth model for cyclostratigraphical analysis. results show that strata, preserves well-developed Milankovitch cycles, climatic conditions formation vary among seams. Different patterns variation eccentricity, obliquity, procession determine thickness seam. great significance factors influenced climate evolution deposition Middle Jurassic.

Abstract Inertinite‐rich coal is widely distributed in the Ordos Basin, represented by No. 2 seam of Middle Jurassic Yan'an Formation. This paper combined petrology and geochemistry to analyze origin inertinite, changes coal‐forming environment control characteristics wildfire. Research has shown that there are two forms inertinite sources study area. Alongside typical fusinization, wildfire events also play a substantial role formation. There significant fluctuations samples at different depths. Coal were formed dry forest swamp with low water levels strong oxidation, which have high content, wet limnic showed content. Conversely, content origins does not fully correspond depositional characterized dryness oxidation. Nonpyrogenic inertinites significantly influenced climatic conditions, while pyrofusinite was entirely controlled conditions but rather directly impacted events. The oxygen level main factor causing widespread Overall, combination activity oxidation generates Basin.

Abstract The extensive thinning and destruction of North China Craton (NCC) during the Early Cretaceous led to development numerous rift basins petroleum systems. However, specific relationship between NCC evolution hydrocarbon generation accumulation in these sedimentary is still unclear. In this study organic geochemistry oil-source correlation analyses were conducted investigate hydrocarbons potential migration pathway representative Fuxin Basin. Results demonstrate that semi-deep lacustrine source rocks developed Jiufotang Formation (K 1 jf) west upper Shahai sh) east, both which are enriched with matter content kerogen Types II III. Based on hierarchical cluster analysis crude oils biomarker fingerprints, two oil types (A B) deduced.
