There are urgent calls to transition society more sustainable trajectories, at scales ranging from local global. Landscape sustainability (LS), or the capacity for landscapes provide equitable access ecosystem services essential human wellbeing both current and future generations, provides an operational approach monitor these transitions. However, complexity of complicates how what consider when assessing LS. To identify important features that remain challenging in LS assessments guidance strengthen assessments. Incorporating diverse values of nature in decision-making—theory and practice

Values play a significant role in decision-making, especially regarding nature. Decisions impact people and nature complex ways understanding which values are prioritised, left out is an important task for improving the equity effectiveness of decision-making. Based on work done IPBES Assessment, this paper develops framework to support analyses how decision-making influences as well whose get prioritised. The pitfalls of plural valuation

This paper critically examines the current political context in which valuation studies of nature are undertaken. It challenges belief that somehow, more and technically better will drive societal change toward just sustainable futures. Instead, we argue proposed practices risk to continue overrepresent values those who hold power dominate space, perpetuate discrimination views nondominant stakeholders. Increasing uptake of ecosystem service assessments: best practice check-lists for practitioners in Europe

Aiming at understanding the role of plural values in decision-making, IPBES Values Assessment defined nature valuation broadly as including biophysical, economic and socio-cultural assessments, ecosystem service assessment. reviews scientific literature revealed a lack documentation uptake by stakeholders across method types. The EU project SELINA aims to contribute increasing ES assessments different governance levels. This paper guidance national local applications compiling study design recommendations for from 111 documents on covering 12 European languages. Guidance are evaluated seven diagnostic topics suggested increase relevance robustness assessments: condition variables; capacity-potential; supply-demand; spatial scaling resolution capability; social health benefit compatibility; uncertainty develops these into set checklists practitioners contractors assessments.
