The need for energy, chemicals, food, and other vital survival necessities rises as the world's population is growing quickly. production of waste materials has become a critical problem among researchers because increased industrialization growth. Thus, this review addresses pressing issue effluents generated by biorefineries, focusing on their high biological chemical oxygen demand (COD BOD), vibrant colors, hazardous phenolic chemicals like tetra chlorophenol pentachlorophenol. Motivated to mitigate adverse effects industrial activities employment, life expectancy, land use, international trade, are exploring innovative methods producing alternative with minimal environmental impact. Biorefineries, utilizing diverse biomass feedstocks, emerge promising solutions sustainable fuel production. However, during biorefining processes rigorous treatment due complex composition toxicity, posing threats aquatic ecosystems human health. This provides comprehensive exploration recent advancements in development application natural, synthetic, composite effluent treatment. Various approaches, such physical, biological, enzymatic, Fenton process, aerobic, anaerobic methods, discussed detail, emphasizing effectiveness meeting discharge regulations. Given intricate nature biorefinery effluents, underscores necessity employing combinations systems achieve optimal results. Furthermore, study delves into sustainability cost considerations associated from biorefineries. By shedding light consequences these activities, research aims fill existing knowledge gaps, urging scientific community undertake further investigations. In conclusion, work contributes ongoing dialogue creative treatment, ensuring balance between preservation economic viability.

This study presents a novel composite nanofiber membrane combining polyacrylonitrile/polyvinylidene fluoride (PAN/PVDF) electrospun nanofibers with locally sourced zeolite from Sumatera, Indonesia, for pollutant dye filtration. The Ze-PAN/PVDF has 100% methylene blue rejection even after five filtration cycles permeation flux of 185 L m−2 h−1 bar−1. is highly selective, efficiency cationic dyes (i.e., and crystal violet) vs. 78% 1% anionic Congo red methyl orange, respectively). For the dyes, mechanism mainly governed by electrostatic attraction, while size exclusion becomes more dominant dyes. Overall, these results demonstrate potential use in wastewater treatment applications.
