In this study, the authors analyzed whether chronotypes, sleep duration, and sufficiency are associated with cardiovascular diseases type 2 diabetes by using National FINRISK Study 2007 data (N = 6258), being a representative sample of population aged 25 to 74 living in five areas Finland. Health status assessments laboratory measurements from participants 4589) DILGOM substudy were used for detailed analysis chronotype. Evening types had 2.5-fold odds ratio (p < .01) as compared morning types, association independent duration sufficiency. 1.3-fold arterial hypertension .05 after controlling or sufficiency), faster resting heart rate lower systolic blood pressure (both p .01), levels serum total cholesterol low-density lipoprotein .0001) than types. There significant 1.2- 1.4-fold ratios among those long short durations reduced To conclude, behavioral trait towards eveningness is suggested predispose individuals particular, whereas compromised robustly hypertension. The interest in the systematic study of circadian typology (CT) is relatively recent and has developed rapidly two last decades. All existing data suggest that this individual difference affects our biological psychological functioning, not only health, but also disease. In present study, we review current literature concerning psychometric properties validity CT measures as well individual, environmental genetic factors influence CT.We a brief overview markers are used to define differences between groups (sleep-wake cycle, body temperature, cortisol, melatonin), assess implications for adjustment shift work jet-lag.We terms cognitive abilities, personality traits incidence psychiatric disorders. When necessary, have emphasized methodological limitations exist today suggested some future avenues order overcome these. This new field professionals many different areas (research, labor, academic, clinical) provides state art discussion allow integrate chronobiological aspects human behavior into their daily practice.

Abstract Circadian rhythms are internal manifestations of the solar day that permit adaptations to predictable environmental temporal changes. These ~24-h controlled by molecular clockworks within brain reset daily precisely 24 h exposure light–dark cycle. Information from master clock in mammalian hypothalamus conveys information entire body via humoral and neural communication. A bidirectional relationship exists between mood disorders circadian rhythms. Mood often associated with disrupted clock-controlled responses, such as sleep cortisol secretion, whereas disruption jet lag, night-shift work, or artificial light at night, can precipitate exacerbate affective symptoms susceptible individuals. Evidence suggests strong associations mental health, but only recently have studies begun discover direct interactions system regulation. This review provides an overview behavioral health psychiatry. The focus this is delineating role on using human night shift studies, well lag identify links. We also animal models responses. Lastly, we propose low-cost lifestyle changes improve presumably health.

Abstract Circadian (∼24-hour) timing systems pervade all kingdoms of life and temporally optimize behavior physiology in humans. Relatively recent changes to our environments, such as the introduction artificial lighting, can disorganize circadian system, from level molecular clocks that regulate cellular activities synchronization between daily cycles solar day. Sleep/wake are intertwined with global trends indicate these, too, increasingly subject disruption. A large proportion world's population is at increased risk environmentally driven rhythm sleep disruption, a minority individuals also genetically predisposed misalignment disorders. The consequences disruption system profound include myriad metabolic ramifications, some which may be compounded by adverse effects on dietary choices. If not addressed, deleterious will continue cause widespread health problems; therefore, implementation numerous behavioral pharmaceutical interventions help restore alignment enhance important.

Biological clocks are autonomous anticipatory oscillators that play a critical role in the organization and information processing from genome to whole organisms. Circadian rhythms are near 24-h patterns of physiology and behaviour that present independent external cues including hormones, body temperature, mood, sleep propensity. The term 'circadian misalignment' describes a variety circumstances, such as inappropriately timed wake, misalignment sleep/wake with feeding rhythms, or misaligned central peripheral rhythms. predominance early research focused on to the biological night. However, discovery clock genes presence circadian oscillators have expanded definitions misalignment. Experimental studies conducted in animal models humans provided evidence potential mechanisms link negative outcomes. These include dysregulation behaviours, changes appetite stimulating glucose metabolism mood. This review has two foci: (1) describe how been defined evaluated laboratory field experiments, (2) linking different types increased risk for physical (cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer) psychiatric (depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, attention deficit) disorders. will role factor disease general population clinical populations, rhythm disorders
