Abstract Background Low socioeconomic status (SES) during childhood is associated with higher levels of youth psychopathology. However, limited longitudinal work has examined the role both household and neighborhood SES in shaping mental health trajectories over time using population‐based data. The goal present study was to characterize associations between changes problems early adolescence. Methods We investigated independent joint income‐to‐needs ratio, parent educational attainment, material hardship, disadvantage internalizing, externalizing, attention symptom data from Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study. Given sex‐based differences ABCD study, analyses were conducted separately males females. assessed at baseline youth‐reported across six time‐points age 10–13 years ( M = 10.4, SD 0.63 years; first 6‐month follow‐up; N 9488). Results Main effects indicated that, general, high lower symptoms. longitudinally, increases relative SES. In females, while internalizing symptoms increased all income‐to‐needs, association most positive B 0.036, SE 0.008, p < 0.001). males, positively predicted externalizing 0.022, 0.007, 0.002) 0.023, 0.001) trajectories, linked income‐to‐needs. Two‐way interactions indicators predicting non‐significant. Conclusion Our finding that lower‐SES backgrounds exhibited adolescence contrasts findings prior cross‐sectional studies. are on rise landscape risk for psychopathology changing. More research needed understand how contributes resilience transition

While education is crucial for brain health, evidence mainly relies on individual measures of years (YoE), neglecting quality (EQ). The effect YoE and EQ aging dementia has not been compared. We conducted a cross-sectional assessment the health in 7533 subjects from 20 countries, including healthy controls (HCs), Alzheimer's disease (AD), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). was based country-level indicators provided by programme international student (PISA). After applying neuroimage harmonization, we examined its effect, along with YoE, gray matter volume functional connectivity. Regression models were adjusted age, sex, cognition, controlling multiple comparisons. influence image assessed through sensitivity analysis. Data collection between June 1 October 30, 2024. Low socioeconomic status (SES) is negatively associated with children's cognitive and academic performance, leading to long‐term educational economic disparities. In particular, SES a powerful predictor of executive function (EF), language ability, achievement. Despite extensive research documenting SES‐related differences in these domains, our understanding the mechanisms underlying associations factors that may mitigate relationships limited. This systematic review aimed identify mediators moderators association EF, Our synthesis revealed stress, support, stimulation, broader contextual at school‐ neighborhood level be important protective associations. stimulation mediated Educational expectations, classroom school environment, teacher–student also played key role addition, such as preschool attendance, home learning activities, parental support buffered between low lower outcomes. Greenspace exposure is associated with positive mental health and academic outcomes. This preregistered longitudinal study examines whether the influence of greenspace on structural brain development partially explains these associations. We analyzed data from Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) (N=7102), to test relationship between at age 9-10 structure two years later, as well change over time. Additionally, we tested statistically mediated associations performance. was greater total surface area (SA) cortical volume (CV), thickness (CT) in temporal regions insula, lower caudal middle frontal superior gyri, SA across several regions, caudate nucleus, putamen, nucleus accumbens. In analyses studying time, higher growth SA, average reduction, reduced CV changes regional level. also found significant indirect effects association performance through both structure. linked neurodevelopment, which is, turn, better achievement. Our findings underscore importance supporting outcomes children adolescents.

This literature review focuses on some more or less common neurodevelopmental disabilities and brain abnormalities during childhood their implication in cognitive functioning. Illuminates the neurocognitive domains, impacted by such disabilities, assesses degree to which each disability exhibits shared characteristics connections, analyzes limitations, suggests future research methods for gaps be further covered. Alterations activity are associated with development of skills from infancy through early adolescence. Children diagnosed various disorders exhibit deficits as attention, memory, verbal communication, global intelligence, certain executive functions, whereas language visuospatial abilities may differ. Adequate personalized treatment plans strategies those affected conditions enhance overall well-being reduce caregiver distress.
