BackgroundUltra-processed foods (UPFs) are emerging as a risk factor for colorectal cancer (CRC), yet how post-diagnostic UPF intake may impact CRC prognosis remains unexplored.MethodsData collected from food frequency questionnaires were used to estimate intakes of total UPFs and subgroups (serving/d) at least 6 months but less than 4 years post-diagnosis among 2498 patients diagnosed with stages I–III within the Nurses' Health Study Professionals Follow-up during 1980–2016. Hazard ratios (HR) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) all-cause, CRC- cardiovascular disease (CVD)-specific mortality in association consumption estimated using an inverse probability weighted multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression model, adjusted confounders.FindingsThe mean (SD) age diagnosis was 68.5 (9.4) years. A 1661 deaths documented, including 321 335 CVD. Compared those lowest quintile (median = 3.6 servings/d), highest 10 servings/d) had higher CVD (HR 1.65, CI 1.13–2.40) not or all-cause mortality. Among subgroups, fats/condiments/sauces associated CVD-specific (highest vs. intake, HR 1.96, 1.41–2.73), ice cream/sherbet increased CRC-specific quintile, 1.86, CI: 1.33–2.61). No statistically significant found between overall mortality.InterpretationHigher survivors is mortality, linked mortality.FundingUS National Institutes American Cancer Society.

It is currently unknown whether ultra-processed foods (UPFs) consumption associated with a higher incidence of multimorbidity. We examined the relationship total and subgroup UPFs risk multimorbidity defined as co-occurrence at least two chronic diseases in an individual among first cancer any site, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes.

The present study aims to provide a narrative review of the molecular mechanisms Western diet-induced obesity and obesity-related carcinogenesis. A literature search Cochrane Library, Embase Pubmed databases, Google Scholar grey was conducted. Most that induce are also involved in twelve Hallmarks Cancer, with fundamental process being consumption highly processed, energy-dense diet deposition fat white adipose tissue liver. generation crown-like structures, macrophages surrounding senescent or necrotic adipocytes hepatocytes, leads perpetual state chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, hyperinsulinaemia, aromatase activity, activation oncogenic pathways loss normal homeostasis. Metabolic reprogramming, epithelial mesenchymal transition, HIF-1α signalling, angiogenesis host immune-surveillance particularly important. Obesity-associated carcinogenesis is closely related metabolic syndrome, hypoxia, visceral dysfunction, oestrogen synthesis detrimental cytokine, adipokine exosomal miRNA release. This important pathogenesis oestrogen-sensitive cancers, including breast, endometrial, ovarian thyroid cancer, but ‘non-hormonal’ obesity-associated cancers such as cardio-oesophageal, colorectal, renal, pancreatic, gallbladder hepatocellular adenocarcinoma. Effective weight interventions may improve future incidence overall cancer.

Summary The social and economic constructs of the United Kingdom (UK) provide a fertile food environment for dramatic expansion in ultra‐processed (UPF) market, driving increased UPF consumption. This has coincided with significant increase incidence prevalence non‐communicable diseases (NCDs) such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, an inherent impact on morbidity mortality. Our review aims to assess current epidemiological public health trends Kingdom, specifically examining consumption UPFs subsequent development NCDs, summarizing existing meta‐analytical experimental approaches. First, we address important socioeconomic psychosocial domains that may contribute availability UPF. Additionally, explore putative mechanistic basis association between NCDs: partly attributable their energy density , macro‐ micronutrient composition (including high refined carbohydrate, saturated, trans fats composition, addition low fiber protein content), artificially engineered additives other compounds adversely affect inadequately researched pathophysiological pathways. highlights importance promoting minimally processed diets both clinical political decision makers.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition affecting reproductive-aged women, characterized by the growth of ectopic endometrial tissue. Despite being benign, endometriosis associated with an increased risk certain cancers, including endometriosis-associated ovarian cancer (EAOC). Ovarian rare, but more common in women endometriosis, particularly endometrioid and clear-cell carcinomas. Factors such as hormonal imbalance, reproductive history, environmental exposures, genetic predisposition contribute to malignant transformation endometriosis. Thus, understanding potential factors causing malignancy crucial. Over past few decades, various mutations, microRNAs, well tumor microenvironmental have been identified, impacting pathways like PI3K/AKT/mTOR, DNA repair mechanisms, oxidative stress, inflammation. this review aims summarize molecular studies involved EAOC pathogenesis therapeutic targets. However, further research needed better understand driving development, target susceptibility endometriotic lesions progression, identify effective strategies.
