Bisham Qilla and Doyian stations, Indus River Basin of Pakistan Water pollution is an international concern that impedes human health, ecological sustainability, agricultural output. This study focuses on the distinguishing characteristics evolutionary ensemble machine learning (ML) based modeling to provide in-depth insight escalating water quality problems. The 360 temporal readings electric conductivity (EC) total dissolved solids (TDS) with several input variables are used establish multi-expression programing (MEP) model random forest (RF) regression for assessment at River. developed models were evaluated using statistical metrics. findings reveal determination coefficient (R2) in testing phase (subject unseen data) all more than 0.95, indicating accurateness models. Furthermore, error measurements much lesser root mean square logarithmic (RMSLE) nearly equals zero each model. absolute percent (MAPE) MEP RF falls below 10% 5%, respectively, three phases (training, validation testing). According sensitivity generated about relevance inputs predicted EC TDS, shows bi-carbonates chlorine content have significant influence a sensitiveness score 0.90, whereas impact sodium less pronounced. All (RF MEP) lower uncertainty prediction interval coverage probability (PICP) calculated quartile (QR) approach. PICP% greater 85% stages. Thus, indicate developing intelligent parameter cost effective feasible monitoring analyzing quality.

Abstract The global wastewater surge demands constructed wetlands (CWs) to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG); yet pollutant removal interactions and sustainability of small CWs are unclear. This study synthesizes CW data from 364 sites worldwide. efficiency organic matter nutrient pollutants had a 75th percentile 68.8–84.0%. Bivariate analysis found consistent synergies between removals, lasting 3–12 years. optimal thresholds for maintaining synergistic effects were as follows: area size—17587 m 2 , hydraulic loading rate—0.45 m/d, retention time—8.2 days, temperature—20.2 °C. When considering co-benefits multi-pollutants control, promoting small-scale could be an effective sustainable solution managing diverse while simultaneously minimizing land requirements. holds potential address challenges posed by water scarcity resulting discharge pollution.

Water contamination is indeed a worldwide problem that threatens public health, environmental protection, and agricultural productivity. The distinctive attributes of machine learning (ML)-based modelling can provide in-depth understanding into increasing water quality challenges. This study presents the development multi-expression programming (MEP) based predictive model for parameters, i.e., electrical conductivity (EC) total dissolved solids (TDS) in upper Indus River at two different outlet locations using 360 readings collected on monthly basis. optimized MEP models were assessed statistical measurements coefficient-of-determination (R2), root-mean-square error (RMSE), mean-absolute (MAE), root-mean-square-logarithmic (RMSLE) mean-absolute-percent (MAPE). results show R2 testing phase (subjected to unseen data) EC-MEP TDS-MEP above 0.90, 0.9674 0.9725, respectively, reflecting higher accuracy generalized performance. Also, measures are quite lower. In accordance with MAPE statistics, both shows an “excellent” performance all three stages. comparison traditional non-linear regression (NLRMs), developed have good generalization capabilities. sensitivity analysis regard significance each input forecasted parameters suggests Cl HCO3 substantial impacts predictions (EC TDS), sensitiveness index although influence Na less prominent. this research suggest intelligence EC TDS cost effective viable evaluation monitoring river water.

The study investigated the dissipation ability of a vegetated free water surface (FWS) constructed wetland (CW) in treating pesticides-contaminated agricultural runoff/drainage rural area belonging to Bologna province (Italy). experiment simulated 0.1% pesticide event from 12.5-ha farm by dissolving acetamiprid, metalaxyl, S-metolachlor, and terbuthylazine 1000 L pumping it into CW. Water sediment samples CW were collected for 4 months at different time intervals determine concentrations multiresidue extraction chromatography-mass spectrometry analyses. In parallel, no active compounds detected sediments during experimental period. Pesticides compartment was modeled according best data practices fitting Single First Order (SFO), Multi-Compartment (FOMC) Double Parallel (DFOP) kinetic models. SFO (except metalaxyl), FOMC DFOP models adequately predicted four molecules, with model that better fitted observed data. distribution each between biomass highly correlated environmental indexes as Kow bioconcentration factor. Computed DT50 2.169, 8.019, 1.551 2.047 days terbuthylazine, respectively. Although exact degradation mechanisms require further study, FWS found be effective within an acceptable time. Therefore, this technology proved valuable tool mitigating pesticides runoff occurring after intense rain events.
