Abstract Cancer burden can be reduced by controlling modifiable risk factors, including diet. We provided an evidence‐based assessment of cancer cases and deaths attributable to diet in Italy 2020. considered dietary factor‐cancer type pairs for which the World Research Fund/American Institute – Continuous Update Project reported either ‘convincing’ or ‘probable’ evidence causal association. Relative risks were retrieved from recent meta‐analyses intakes (around 2005) a national food consumption survey. Sex‐specific population fractions (PAFs) computed comparing distribution Italian against counterfactual scenarios based on recommendations. Using data mortality registries 2020, we estimated number deaths, assuming ~15‐year lag period. Unhealthy accounted 6.3% (95% CI: 2.5%–9.9%) all men 4.5% 1.7%–7.4%) women. Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection leads to the development of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Lifelong treatment with nucleotides/nucleoside antiviral agents is effective at suppressing HBV replication, however, adherence daily therapy can be challenging. This review discusses recent advances in long-acting formulations for prevention, which could potentially improve adherence. Promising new compounds that target distinct steps life cycle are summarized. In addition treatments suppress viral curative strategies focused on elimination covalently closed circular DNA inactivation integrated from infected hepatocytes. We highlight promising antivirals genome editing or deactivation persistent products development.

Exposure to occupational carcinogens is an important and avoidable cause of cancer. We aimed provide evidence-based estimate the burden occupation-related cancers in Italy. The attributable fraction (AF) was calculated based on counterfactual scenario no exposure carcinogens. included exposures classified as IARC group 1 with reliable evidence Italy. Relative risk estimates for selected prevalences were derived from large-scale studies. Except mesothelioma, a 15-20-year latency period between cancer considered. The data incidence 2020 mortality 2017 Italy obtained Italian Association Cancer Registries. The most prevalent UV radiation (5.8%), diesel exhaust (4.3%), wood dust (2.3%) silica (2.1%). Mesothelioma had largest AF (86.6%), followed by sinonasal (11.8%) lung (3.8%). estimated that 0.9% cases (N~3500) 1.6% deaths (N~2800) Of these, about 60% asbestos, 17.5% exhaust, chromium (7% 5%).Our up-to-date quantification low, but persistent,
