Abstract Cancer burden can be reduced by controlling modifiable risk factors, including diet. We provided an evidence‐based assessment of cancer cases and deaths attributable to diet in Italy 2020. considered dietary factor‐cancer type pairs for which the World Research Fund/American Institute – Continuous Update Project reported either ‘convincing’ or ‘probable’ evidence causal association. Relative risks were retrieved from recent meta‐analyses intakes (around 2005) a national food consumption survey. Sex‐specific population fractions (PAFs) computed comparing distribution Italian against counterfactual scenarios based on recommendations. Using data mortality registries 2020, we estimated number deaths, assuming ~15‐year lag period. Unhealthy accounted 6.3% (95% CI: 2.5%–9.9%) all men 4.5% 1.7%–7.4%) women. PAFs colorectal 10.5% 7.0% any intake processed meat, 3.3% 2.0% high red 4.8% 4.3% low dairy products, 7.9% 9.0% fiber women, respectively. non‐starchy vegetables fruit ranged 0.8% 16.5% 0.6%–17.8% women cancers aerodigestive tract. The associated with unfavorable habits is considerable, but appears lower than other high‐income countries, reflecting typically Mediterranean

To assess the role of histopathological and molecular features in predicting risk nodal metastases apparent early-stage endometrial cancer patients undergoing sentinel node mapping. This is a prospective trial. Consecutive with cancer, laparoscopic hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, mapping, were enrolled. Histological used to predict positivity. Charts 223 included this study. Four (1.8%) excluded from study due lack data about features. Additionally, nine (4%) did not meet inclusion criteria (due presence peritoneal carcinomatosis or bulky nodes (the p53 abnormality correlated advanced stage disease (p<0.001)). The population 178 (84.8%) 32 (15.2%) endometrioid non-endometrioid respectively. According pathological uterine factors, 93 (44.3%), 45 (21.4%), 40 (19.1%), classified as low, intermediate, intermediate-high, high-risk, Using surrogate classification, 10 (4.8%), 42 (20%), 57 (27.1%), 101 (48.1%) POLE mutated, abnormal, MMRd/MSI-H, NSMP, Overall, 41 (19.5%) detected positive nodes. Molecular associated having (OR 1.03, 95% CI 0.21 5.05, p=0.969 for mutated; OR 0.788, 0.32 1.98, p=0.602 abnormal; 1.14, 0.53 2.42, p=0.733 MMRd/MSI-H). At multivariable analysis, only deep myometrial invasion 3.318, 1.357 8.150, p=0.009) lymphovascular space 6.584, 2.663 16.279, p<0.001) increased Our suggest that classification does seem useful tailor need dissection cancer. predicts at presentation.
