Abstract The pentasaccharide repeating unit containing 6-deoxy-l-talose corresponding to the cell wall O-polysaccharide of Escherichia coli (E. coli) O66 strain has been successfully synthesized in very good yield using sequential glycosylations judiciously functionalized monosaccharide intermediates. Incorporation β-d-mannosidic linkage and 6-deoxy-α-l-talose was achieved excellent yield.

Abstract Accessing homogenous glycoconjugates is of significance for assessing their biophysical activities and sometimes as vaccine candidate. Synthesis involves two species which, glycosyl donor plays pivotal role in controlling the outcome glycosylation. Recently discovered alkynyl carbonate donors possess self‐stability, high reactivity, fast reaction time (15–30 min) when activated with [Au]/[Ag]‐catalysts. Herein, we report metal free conditions activation same using I 2 /TMSOTf stoichiometric quantities. Extrusion product was characterized to be vinylidene iodide by single crystal X‐ray analysis. Colanic acid (CA) is a natural polysaccharide macromolecule with rich and unique biological properties promising candidate for use in food cosmetics. To date, the efficient biosynthesis of CA influence product accumulation on strains used have yet to be precisely investigated.
