Centrifuge modeling allows granular flows to be simulated under stresses characteristic of full-scale flows, while maintaining repeatability. However, the impact Coriolis effect on run-out behavior dry is not fully understood. In this study, using discrete element method (DEM), we conducted simulations flow both with and without (dilative compressive) conditions analyze mobility, structure, interaction. For unsteady dilative force increased moving distance centroid by 60%–70% maximum kinetic energy 5%–17%, whereas those parameters were reduced 30% 2%–9%, respectively, compressive conditions. Results showed that selecting a lower centrifugal acceleration reducing rotational angular velocity in physical ineffective for realizing weaker effect. This study established larger centrifuge could mitigate effect, but outcome became less notable as radius increased. Additionally, suggest preliminary relation used correct results experimental final obtained geotechnical centrifuge.

Coriolis effects, encompassing the dilative, compressive, and deflective manifestations, constitute pivotal considerations in centrifugal modelling of high-speed granular run-out processes. Regrettably, extant investigations predominantly emphasize dilative compressive largely neglecting pragmatic import condition. In pursuit this gap, series discrete element method (DEM) simulations have been conducted scrutinize feasibility for dry processes conditions. The findings concerning effect reveal consistent rise distance by 2%–16%, modest increase bulk flow 4%, slight elevation average depth more than 25%. These alterations display smaller dependence specific testing conditions due undergoing dual deflections opposing directions. underscores significance utility anticipated reduction error predicting final is substantial, potentially reaching 150% improvement compared predictions made Therefore, condition advised when main concern. To mitigate impact acceleration, greater initial height column recommended, with height/width ratio exceeding 1, as basal friction material plays crucial role mitigating effect. For transverse-uniform properties, width should be large possible.
