This study measured the salinity in surface water, groundwater, and soils of southwestern coast Bangladesh to illustrate changes vegetation patterns area by NDVI values through RS GIS. The top are found more saline than sub-soils, decreased with soil depths mostly towards river's flow paths. Almost 50, 86, 100, 72% samples pond, Gher/agricultural field, river/Khal, respectively identified as brackish. From year 1989–2020, saline-rich waterlogging was increase while green considerably.

Waterlogging is one of the major global problems which affects agro-economic activities around world. In coastal areas Bangladesh, especially southwestern coast, drainage congestion and waterlogging are very common makes area uninhabitable. Therefore, timely checking systems surface water, conveying data on dynamics drainages water important for plan supervisory processes. The present study took an effort to illustrate morphological change rivers in coast Bangladesh through Modification Normalized Difference Water Index (MNDWI) values valuable indicators monitoring land use pattern change. Landsat images (Landsat L8 Oli TIRS, ETM+, TM) were used research. reveals that from 1989 2020, shallow (mostly covered with rivers) decreased by ∼14.30 km2 yr-1, whereas wet-land beels logging areas) increased ∼ 67.12 yr-1. bare also at a rate 36.90 On other hand, green vegetation ∼166.1 moderate 69.77 yr-1 same period. zones polders, embankments, upstream dams, etc., enhance more sedimentation within channels rather than nearby tidal plains. As result, mostly gradually decreasing. Moreover, due increase salinity intrusions affect vegetation. regularly declining demolition or conversion findings research will be supportive scientists worldwide, policy makers & planners, finally sustainable management including Bangladesh.

The dam is a crucial water source for both consumption and irrigation in the Asir region of Kingdom Saudi Arabia. current study evaluates surface quality at examines effects some physicochemical trace metals on using multiple statistical approaches. parameters were measured 27 sites region. Three generated K-mean clustering technique; first group included five sites, second contained 20 third added 2 sites. chemical facies Na-K-SO42−. had low levels Zn (0.19 mg/L), Cd (0.10 mg/L) Pb (0.22 except B (38.50 excessive concentrations Na (2090.65 K (535.72 SO42− (208.11 Cl− (105.96 while pH varied between 6.0 8.5 few EC (electrical conductivity) values within standard purposes. results indices such as magnesium absorption ratio (MAR), hazard (MH), Kelly’s (KR), soluble sodium percentage (SSP) indicate that mostly fit (Na%) adsorption (SAR). index (IWQI) revealed 51.85% samples high suitability class 11.11% moderate suitability, whereas rest use. redundancy analysis (RDA) biplot pH, DO, TH, increased with decreased salt level. generalized linear model (GLM) found negative effect amount Fe, Ni, Se, Al concentrations. recommends proper protective measures, including acceptable criteria different parameters, are required to reduce potential influence agricultural fields.

Industrial discharge of heavy metals severely deteriorates surface water quality in many parts the world, particularly lower-middle-income countries like Bangladesh. This study collected published data from 30 different bodies Bangladesh, including rivers, lakes, freshwater wetlands (Haors), and river estuaries, on mean concentrations 12 (Cd, Pb, Cr, Hg, Zn, Cu, Ni, Al, Fe, Mn, As, Co) 2010 to 2022. The aimed explore pollution source levels status correlations between variables were assessed using metal index (HPI), evaluation (HEI), principal component analysis (PCA). results showed that average Bangladesh order Fe>Al>Mn>Cr>Zn>Cu>As>Ni>Pb>Co>Cd>Hg range 3.98 ppm 0.004 ppm. It also Dhaka, Chittagong, Mymensingh divisions, Bogra city Rajshahi division are most polluted areas terms concentration, whereas Khulna Sylhet divisions moderately polluted. about 83.3% have HPI values greater than 100, which is considered unsafe for consumption. However, HEI revealed 46.7% high category (HEI > 20). correlation matrix illustrated strong positive linear relationships Cr Co, Cu Cd, As Cd. suggested contributing sources studied area related anthropogenic activities, such as municipal waste industrial effluent discharge, tanneries, textile dyeing industries, shipbreaking yards, gas production plants, well agricultural runoff.
