Land surface temperature (LST) is strongly influenced by landscape features as they change the thermal characteristics of greatly. Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Water (NDWI), Built-up (NDBI), and Bareness (NDBAI) correspond to vegetation cover, water bodies, impervious build-ups, bare lands, respectively. These indices were utilized demonstrate relationship between multiple LST using spectral derived from images Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM), 8 Operational Imager (OLI) Sylhet Sadar Upazila (2000-2018). Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform was used filter, process, analyze trends with logistic regression. other calculated. Changes in (2000-2018) range -6 °C +4 study area. Because higher cover reserve forest, north-eastern part region had greatest variations LST. The corresponding have a considerable explanatory capacity for describing scenarios. correlation these ranges -0.52 (NDBI) +0.57 (NDVI).

Forests provide multiple ecosystem services ranging from local livelihoods and socio-economic benefits to global ecological services. Despite these benefits, human activities have put immense strain on forest resources, resulting in degradation, impoverishment of the environment, loss livelihoods. Hence, monitoring cover change identifying its drivers are essential for developing sustainable management strategies that restore resources This study examined trends changes around Semien Mountains National Park, Northwest Ethiopia, 1984 2020. Data Landsat satellite images 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020 were used mapping quantifying using remote sensing techniques. A household survey key informant interviews also identify change. Results showed an overall decline grasslands while cultivated lands, bare lands built-up areas registered gains area. The percentage area under forests declined by about 31% (33,084 ha) over past 36 years. translates annual average 1.02% (919 ha). Conversely, land, experienced increase 159% (33,387 ha), 220% (10,121 366% (6356 respectively, last Analysis 36-year detection matrix revealed 62% a transition, which 21% 41% attributable net swap change, respectively. observed reduction was driven agricultural expansion, population growth, growing demand fuelwood, livestock pressure, fires. Bangladesh has been experiencing rapid urban expansion over the last few decades, contributing much to region's land cover transition into area. The study aims employ geospatial modeling techniques investigate scenarios in Pabna municipality of Bangladesh. Therefore, research examined Cellular Automata Markov and Multi-Layer Perceptron models detect for 2023 2028. selected as best fit model based on highest kappa value. result reveals that area increased from 3.39 8.79 km2 1998–2018. Urban its surrounding are primarily occurring towards northeast directions. However, extent build-up will grow 1998 11.01 12.44 Moreover, future map delineated growth expand part scenario shown this paper would assist planners quantifying under different features thus preparing proper strategic measures.

In recent years, socioeconomic transformation and social modernisation in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states have led to tremendous changes lifestyle and, subsequently, expansion of urban settlements. This accelerated growth is pronounced not only across vegetated coasts, plains, mountains, but also desert cities. Nevertheless, spatial simulation prediction patterns has received little attention, including Oman. While most settlements Oman are located environments, research exploring monitoring this type rare scientific literature. focuses on analysing predicting land use–land cover (LULC) city Ibri A methodology was employed involving integrating multilayer perceptron (MLP) Markov chain (MC) techniques forecast spatiotemporal LULC dynamics map patterns. The inputs were three Landsat images from 2010 2020, a series covariate layers based transforms elevation, slope, population settlements, centres, points interest that proxy driving forces change. findings indicated observed predominantly rapid during transforming desert, bare land, vegetation into built-up areas. showed area conversion would be 5666 ha next two decades 7751 by 2050. Similarly, vacant expected contribute large areas (2370 2040, 3266 2050), although cities confront numerous environmental challenges, water scarcity, shrinking cover, being converted residential land. Rapid urbanization has induced land use and cover change (LULC) that increases surface temperature (LST). Analyzing seasonal variations of LULC LST is a precondition for mitigating heat island effects promoting sustainable living environment. The objective this study to explore the association between dynamics indices Dhaka district Bangladesh. are comprised Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Built-up (NDBI), Bareness (NDBAI), Modified Water (MNDWI). results show effect on in significant, with an increase summer season from 34.58 °C 37.66 winter 24.710C 26.24 °C. Predictably, highest lowest values were observed built-up vegetation-covered areas, respectively. Secondly, correlation indicate significant inverse (R2 > 0.50) NDVI LST, as well MNDWI LST. On contrary, positive correlations NDBI NDBAI both seasons. Finally, subsequent vegetation decline (-69.34%) increasing area (+11.30%) 2000 2020 found be most factors trend spatial heterogeneity Dhaka. methodological approach offers low-cost efficient technique monitoring hotspots, which can guide planners urban managers intervention ensure livable
