Background: The rising concerns surrounding climate change have drawn attention to its potential impact on health, particularly among vulnerable groups such as children and older adults. Despite extensive research health consequences, limited studies explored the connection between extreme heat exposure tobacco use initiation adolescents in United States. Objectives: This study examines relationship of adolescents, using data from Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. It also evaluates mediating roles major depressive disorder (MDD) childhood behavioral problems. Methods: Data 11,878 participants ABCD were analyzed explore link (independent variable) (dependent variable). Covariates included age, sex, race/ethnicity, while MDD problems (measured Child Behavior Checklist, CBCL) assessed mediators. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied for analysis. Results: findings indicated a significant association an increased likelihood aged 9 15. partially mediated this relationship. Conclusions: These results underscore importance targeted interventions aimed at mitigating adolescent including influence initiation. Addressing mental challenges could help reduce these risks. Future longitudinal is needed confirm evaluate efficacy strategies protect youth populations.

Climate change has raised significant concerns about its impact on health, particularly for vulnerable populations such as children and adolescents. While extensive research examined physical health effects, limited attention been given to the influence of extreme heat developmental behavioral outcomes. This study investigates association between exposure early puberty initiation (ages 9-10), using data from Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study. It further explores how correlates with problems tobacco use initiation. Data 11,878 participants in ABCD were analyzed examine relationship (independent variable) (outcome). Behavioral evaluated downstream outcomes puberty. Covariates included age, sex, race/ethnicity, assessed Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed analysis. Extreme significantly associated earlier at ages 9-10. Early puberty, turn, correlated higher levels an increased likelihood These findings underscore importance addressing environmental factors reduce risks maturation, including substance challenges. Targeted interventions policies are needed mitigate child development, longitudinal studies essential confirm these results inform effective prevention strategies.

Nature-based solutions (NBS) such as green (vegetation) and blue (waterbodies) infrastructure are being promoted cost-effective sustainable strategies for managing the heatwaves risks, but long-term monitoring evidence is needed to support their implementation. This work aims conduct a comparative assessment of cooling efficiency (woodland grassland) (waterbody) NBS in contrast built-up area. Over year continuous fixed showed that average daily maximum temperatures at locations were 2-3 oC (up-to 15%) lower than Woodland temperature reduction almost all seasons, followed by waterbody grassland. performed best during summers, peak sunshine, heatwave hours (up ∼6 cooler area). Using an e-bike mobile monitoring, areas where green-blue combined highest spatial extent, waterbody, woodland, grassland areas. The database generated can validate city-scale environmental models assist city planners incorporate into urban dwellings based on opportunity, need scope, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals 11 (sustainable cities communities) 13 (climate action).

Conference of Parties (COP28) emphasized the critical need to support vulnerable nations, particularly in Southeast Asia, by addressing climate change and enhancing finance mechanisms, which are vital for overall well-being their citizens. In response, we used Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS), Dynamic (DOLS), Cross Sectional Autoregressive Distributed Lag (CS-ARDL) techniques examine effects carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, green technology, health expenditures on life expectancy five Asian countries (ASEAN-5) from 1995 2020. Although there is a considerable body work factors that affect expectancy, this study closes major gap literature concentrating ASEAN-5 have not received enough attention studies expectancy. Specifically, incorporating such as CO2 expenditure, were considered those earlier analyses. The CS-ARDL results reveal technology could significantly enhance while emissions negative impact heterogeneous FMOLS DOLS also show heightened expenditure enhances Thailand Philippines, advocating increased investments healthcare infrastructure. Economic expansion emerges significant contributor enhanced Thailand, Singapore, emphasizing importance policies fostering sustainable economic development. Notably, adopting correlates positively with Singapore dual benefits environmentally practices. Conversely, exhibit consistent correlation across all countries, underscoring imperative robust environmental safeguard public health. Based results, recommend policymakers prioritize adopt strategies, promoting clean energy circular economies. addition, targeted incentives including tax breaks renewable subsidies capture research, should be implemented mitigate resilience, health, region.
