Urban dust samples were collected in Moscow (Russia) June 2021. The three functional zones of (traffic, residential, and recreational) included air microparticles, leaf dust, paved dust. Data on the taxonomic composition bacterial communities obtained for samples, their characteristics predicted using PICRUSt2 2.5.0 FAPROTAX 1.8.0 software. culturable part community was examined presence antibiotic-resistant strains with respect to β-lactams, tetracyclines, amphenicols, aminoglycosides. bacteria resistant ceftazidime, cefepime, tetracycline detected all samples. meropenem amikacin only observed from leaves residential traffic zones. overall abundance cultured total heterotrophs ranged 0.03% 1.88%, highest percentage zone. Notably, antibiotics tested community.

The understanding of antibiotic resistance, one the major health threats our time, is mostly based on dated and incomplete notions, especially in clinical contexts. “canonical” mechanisms action pharmacodynamics antibiotics, as well methods used to assess their activity upon bacteria, have not changed decades; same applies definition, acquisition, selective pressures, drivers resistance. As a consequence, strategies improve usage overcome resistance ultimately failed. This review gathers most “non-canonical” notions antibiotics resistance: from alternative limitations susceptibility testing wide variety lateral gene transfer mechanisms, ubiquity, societal factors maintaining Only by having “big picture” view problem can adequate harness be devised. These must global, addressing many aspects that drive increasing prevalence resistant bacteria aside use antibiotics.

Antibiotic resistance represents a growing public health threat, with airborne drug-resistant strains being especially alarming due to their ease of transmission and association severe respiratory infections. The microbiome plays pivotal role in maintaining health, influencing the dynamics antibiotic among pathogenic microorganisms. In this context, review proposes exploration complex interplay between microbiota antimicrobial resistance, highlighting implications diversity disease. Moreover, strategies mitigate including stewardship programs, alternatives traditional antibiotics, probiotics, restoration techniques, nanotechnology-based therapeutic interventions, are critically presented, setting an updated framework current management options. Therefore, through better understanding roles alongside emerging strategies, paper aims shed light on how global challenges posed by multi-drug-resistant pathogens can be addressed.

With the widespread use of tetracycline antibiotics (TCs) and application manure fertilizer in farmland, TCs their metabolites especially 4-epimers have been heavily detected agricultural soil. However, existing studies focused on residual environmental behavior maternal TCs, few looked at ecotoxicity In this study, degradation interconversion (TC), oxytetracycline (OTC) (4-epitetracycline, ETC; 4-epioxytetracycline, OTC) were revealed. Their effects antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), mobile genetic elements (MGEs) bacterial community soil also investigated comparison. The results showed that could be substantially transformed to parents degraded as a whole. rates four selected pollutants are followed: TC > OTC ETC EOTC. This indicated when entered soil, part into slower-degraded 4-epimers, these converted back parents, causing long-term residue When added alone, significantly promoted proliferation most ARGs MGEs, among them, trb-C, IS1247 IS1111 top three abundance. EOTC had little effect beginning. continuously after one month cultivation, treatments similar promoting indicating resistome was lagged mainly caused by parents. Nocardioides, unclassified_Rhizobiaceae, norank_Sericytochromatia, Microlunatus, Solirubrobacter norank_67-14 frequent hosts ARGs, Most which belong phylum Actinobacteria. Due large transformation slow rate potential microbes harm TCs' ecosystem cannot ignored.

The Brahmaputra, a major transboundary river of the Himalayas flowing predominantly through Northeast India, particularly Assam, is increasingly endangered by contamination due to rapid urbanization and anthropogenic pressures. These environmental changes pose significant risks at microbial level, affecting nutrient cycling productivity, thereby impacting ecosystem health. next-generation sequencing technology using metagenomics approach has revolutionized our understanding microbiome its critical role in various aquatic environments.
