Plastic waste accumulation has been recognized as one of the most critical challenges modern societies worldwide. Traditional management practices include open burning, landfilling, and incineration, resulting in greenhouse gas emissions economic loss. In contrast, emerging techniques for plastic microwave-assisted conversion, plasma-assisted supercritical water photo reforming to obtain high-value products. Problems with poorly managed are particularly serious developing countries. This review article examines strategies production various high-value-added products from waste. Additionally, uses different sectors, such construction, fuel production, wastewater treatment, electrode materials, carbonaceous nanomaterials, other reviewed. It observed that there is a pressing need utilize circular economy recycling value-added More specifically, limited knowledge on conversion mechanisms efficiency. Concerns regarding plastic pollution, especially microplastics, have increased, as they can be present in different environmental compartments, including estuarine areas and saltmarshes. Although saltmarshes are highly vulnerable to human activities pressures, the ability trap/retain contaminants their vegetated sediments. However, there is still little information role of microplastic retention. Thus, study aims investigate capability an saltmarsh trap microplastics by comparing concentrations (saltmarsh) non-vegetated Microplastic content from sediment (vegetated non-vegetated) samples collected at sampling sites Lima River estuary was estimated using previously optimised extraction protocols, observed particles were then characterised accordingly size, colour, shape, polymer (by FTIR). Water also analysed for complement MPs characterisation within area. Microplastics detected all samples, with fibres being most common type found, followed fragments/particles. Overall, sediments, those species Juncus maritimus, presented a higher number items. These results indicated that tend trapped supporting fact significant influence on transport, distribution, accumulation areas.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a significant increase in the global use of face masks, with reports indicating that approximately 129 billion people worldwide them every month.
