This research investigates the effects of income, total energy consumption (TEC), price index (EPI), crude oil (COP), political risk (PRI), and geopolitical (GPR) on environmental degradation. In this context, study includes five Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which are mainly oil-rich have high fossil fuel with increasing degradation; considers monthly data from 2000/1 to 2021/12, deploys novel quantile-based methods. The outcomes demonstrate that (i) an increase in TEC, EPI stimulates degradation all GCC countries; (ii) PRI, COP, GPR mixed (iii) a causal effect regressors CO 2 emissions exists quantiles except for some middle (0.45–0.55) higher (0.95); (iv) power vary according (v) consistency results is validated based robust model. findings reveal generally harmful environment but, effects. methods underline significance stability as non-economic non-energy factors by demonstrating varying countries. Accordingly, various policies, such focusing stability, benefitting leverage, enabling transition clean energy, discussed.

This study delves into the intricate relationship between financial digitization and green innovation, aiming to shed light on their dynamic interplay within a global context. Spanning from 2003 2020, encompasses 15 diverse countries, encompassing both developed emerging economies, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russian Federation, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA. It not only explores direct connection innovation but also takes account various controlling factors such as economic growth, industrial value addition, research development expenditure, gross national expenditure. The key findings quantile regression reveal have significant positive effect, indicating that in countries with lower levels, an increase digital services significantly boosts innovation. impact persists across quantiles, even higher albeit lesser degree. Economic growth consistently shows negative association all quantiles. Research expenditure demonstrate emphasizing allocating percentage of activities experience substantial increases underscores facilitation finance initiatives.

This study investigates the impact of Ukraine-Russia conflict on energy cycles by extending a business cycle-based approach in sector. We employ Markov Switching Bayesian Vector Autoregressive (MS-BVAR) model to derive filtered probabilities that represent cycles. By utilizing Russia Economic Policy Uncertainty Index and dummy variables derived from Google search data as indicators, we conduct regression analysis examine generalized impulse response function assess effects Our research reveals notable differences renewable fossil price The cycle exhibits greater persistence, indicating limited shock. In contrast, more significant enduring adjustments high- low-volatility regimes. These findings highlight heterogeneous impacts market, potential disruptions supply chains market sensitivities. Notably, prices demonstrate higher responsiveness across conditions.

Abstract Against the dual backdrop of China vigorously promoting high-speed railways (HSR) construction and establishing an ecological civilization system, HSR as urban transportation infrastructure, is currently gaining growing attention from academic community due to its environmental benefits well effects in energy conservation emission reduction. In this context, research treats initiation a quasi-natural experiment, meanwhile empirically examining effect on structure restructuring exploring micro-level channels through which it operates. The empirical results validate reduction opening fuel consumption industrial enterprises, especially usage coal. This highlight remains valid across series robustness tests. Moreover, evident that “driving effect” enterprise technological innovation capability “industrial upgrading relocation are effective transmission pathways process influencing adjustment structure. unique characteristics enterprise, industry, region introduce certain degree heterogeneity. low-energy-consumption more pronounced high-carbon industry technology-intensive firms engaged pilot cities, small medium-sized city resource-based city. paper provides new perspective adjustment, contributing offering solid experiences references for governance other emerging economies.

Considering increasing public interest in environment-related problems and the carbon-neutrality aims of countries, this study focuses on effect green bonds enabling carbon neutrality supporting clean electricity China, which is leading top carbon-emitting energy-using country world. In context, makes a disaggregated level empirical analysis by considering sectoral emissions source-based generation using quantile-based approaches from January 2, 2019, to December 31, 2023. The outcomes show that (i) decrease mainly transport international aviation sectors; (ii) have mixed effects remaining emissions; (iii) increase all sources at higher quantiles, whereas they lower quantiles. Thus, varies across sectors, sources, Accordingly, set policy endeavors, such as dealing with firstly critical sectors power industry, allocated bond issuance specified focusing some like solar wind, are argued for China.
