The sustenance of human life activities depends on copper, which also serves as a crucial factor for vital enzymes. Under typical circumstances, active homeostatic mechanisms keep the intracellular copper ion concentration low. Excess ions cause excessive cellular respiration, causes cytotoxicity and cell death levels steadily rise above threshold. It is novel that mitochondrial ions, regulation. Cuproptosis now understood to play role in several pathogenic processes, including inflammation, oxidative stress, apoptosis. Copper type regulatory death(RCD).Numerous diseases are correlated with development homeostasis imbalances. One most popular areas study field cancer cuproptosis. has been discovered angiogenesis, proliferation, growth, metastasis all accumulation ions. concentrations can serve marker development. In order reference clinical research product, diagnosis, treatment cancer, this paper covers function imbalance malignant cancers related molecular pathways.

SARS-CoV-2 infects type II pneumocytes and disrupts redox homeostasis by overproducing reactive oxygen species (ROS). N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is a precursor of the synthesis glutathione (GSH) it restores loss associated to viral infections. The aim study evaluate effect treatment with NAC on enzymatic antioxidant system in serum from patients infected SARS-CoV-2. We evaluated activities thioredoxin reductase (TrxR), peroxidase (GPx), -S-transferase (GST), (GR) spectrophotometry concentrations (GSH), total capacity (TAC), thiols, nitrites (NO2-), lipid peroxidation (LPO) serum. activity extracellular super oxide dismutase (ecSOD) was determined native polyacrylamide gels, 3-nitrotyrosine (3-NT) measured ELISA. A decrease ecSOD, TrxR, GPx, GST GR, (p = 0 ≤ 0.1), GSH, TAC, NO2- 0.001) an increase LPO 3-NT were found COVID-19 vs. healthy subjects. as adjuvant therapy may contribute reduction OS infection through generation GSH. GSH promotes metabolic pathways that depend it, thus contributing TAC restore homeostasis.

Notwithstanding mass vaccination against specific SARS-CoV-2 variants, there is still a demand for complementary nutritional intervention strategies to fight COVID-19. The bovine milk protein lactoferrin (LF) has attracted interest of nutraceutical, food and dairy industries its numerous properties—ranging from anti-viral anti-microbial immunological—making it potential functional ingredient in wide variety applications maintain health. Importantly, LF was found exert activities several types viruses, including certain variants. LF’s effect on COVID-19 patients seen rapid increase vitro vivo studies published, resulting model how might play role during different phases infection. Aim this narrative review two-fold: (1) highlight the most relevant findings concerning anti-viral, anti-microbial, iron-binding, immunomodulatory, microbiota-modulatory intestinal barrier properties that support health two affected organs (lungs gut), (2) explore possible underlying mechanisms governing mode action. Thanks effects health, can be considered good candidate interventions counteracting infection related pathogenesis.

Introduction. Late diagnosis of inflammatory pathologies leads to increased risks chronicization the process, generalization, development complications, and reduced effectiveness therapy. Routine methods clinical laboratory diagnostics often have diagnostic value at stage already developed disease with pronounced manifestations. Determination blood serum trace elements may prognostic in diseases. The most extensively studied context inflammation immune defense are copper zinc. aim study. study was investigate significance determining zinc concentrations inflammation. Material methods. Concentrations CRP, ferritin, ceruloplasmin, leukocytes, neutrophils, fibrinogen, copper, were determined 1153 examined people aged 18 86 years. Serum by ICP-MS method, rest parameters measured standard ROC analysis used evaluate measurements. Positive predictive negative also calculated for tests. Results. It shown that concentration both men women can be as a predictor abnormalities fibrinogen. IntroductionSome micronutrients have key roles in immune defence, including mucosal defence mechanisms and immunoglobulin production. Altered micronutrient status has been linked with COVID-19 infection disease severity. We assessed the associations of selected circulating anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG IgA seropositivity Swiss community using early pandemic data.MethodsCase-control study comparing first PCR-confirmed symptomatic cases Vaud Canton (May to June 2020, n = 199) controls (random population sample, 447), seronegative for IgA. The replication analysis included seropositive (n 134) 152) close contacts from confirmed cases. Anti-SARS-CoV-2 levels against native trimeric spike protein were measured Luminex immunoassay. plasma Zn, Se Cu concentrations by ICP-MS, 25-hydroxy-vitamin D3 (25(OH)D3) LC-MS/MS explored multiple logistic regression.ResultsThe 932 participants (54.1% women) aged 48.6 ± 20.2 years (±SD), BMI 25.0 4.7 kg/m2 median C-Reactive Protein 1 mg/l. In regressions, log2(Zn) negatively associated (OR [95% CI]: 0.196 [0.0831; 0.465], P < 0.001; analyses: 0.294 [0.0893; 0.968], 0.05). Results similar found no association Cu, Se, 25(OH)D3 or seropositivity.ConclusionLow Zn higher a when initial viral variant was circulating, vaccination available. These results suggest that adequate may play an important role protecting general SARS-CoV-2 infection.Registry: Corona Immunitas:ISRCTN18181860.

SARS-CoV-2 is a serious viral pathogen, and agents that inhibit its replication are in high demand. In the present work, we prepared two novel tryptanthrin derivates bearing thiosemicarbazone moiety as potential antiviral agents. Both compounds displayed potent chelation activity against Fe(III/II) ion-associated COVID-19. The molecular docking results suggest can display significant affinity towards papain-like proteases main proteases. addition, administering T8H-TSC repress used model (Vero cells). In recent months, the current COVID-19 pandemic has generated thousands of studies directly or indirectly related with this disease and/or coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 causing infection. On August 22, 2022, database PUBMED included 287,639 publications containing term COVID-19. However, in spite importance trace elements human health, including immune system, data on levels metals/metalloids patients is very limited. The concentrations As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Fe, Mg, Mn, Pb, Se, V and Zn were determined by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) 126 serum samples individuals infected SARS-CoV-2, as well 88 non-infected individuals. Participants divided into four groups: i) positive (COVID-19 +) an asymptomatic infection course; ii) suffering mild COVID-19; iii) severe COVID-19, iv) negative (COVID-19-) (control group). The occurrence analyzed was evaluated along biochemical profile, blood cell counts, lipids, proteins crucial enzymes.Serum V, Pb higher than those control group. Although no significant differences observed between different groups patients, showed a tendency to be showing symptoms being asymptomatic. Arsenic Hg rarely detected, regardless if subjects not. results did not show rest according severity (asymptomatic, severe). In here obtained, we highlight need reduce exposure minimize potential adverse health outcomes after other hand, although protective role essential found, Mg Cu
