Abstract Indonesia is renowned as an agricultural powerhouse, ranking first globally in oil palm production. This prominence agriculture leads to the consistent generation of agro-industrial waste, notably Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME). Effectively addressing these waste concerns important due their adverse impacts on aquatic ecosystems and nation’s health economy. Anthropogenic wastewater with excessive phosphorus content can trigger eutrophication toxic algal blooms, posing environmental risks potentially precipitating a future clean water crisis. Thus, comprehensive approach necessary restore environment biogeochemical cycles. Treatment efforts involving bioremediation agents aim recycle organic inorganic pollutants environment. Photosynthetic organisms like plants microalgae serve effective agents, capable absorbing excess phosphorus. They utilize phosphate energy source boost biomass. Integrating bioengineering technology optimizes treatment efficacy while simultaneously producing valuable biomass for products bioenergy. review article explores photosynthetic organisms’ multifunctional role treatment, minimizing pollutant impacts, providing fertilizers, polymers, bioplastics, renewable energy. Furthermore, this study unveils opportunities technological advancements field.

The inability to effectively manage waste has evolved into one of the most significant challenges faced in oil palm plantations, and this failure had an impact on operations within plantation. This study examines how attitudes (ATT), subjective norms (SN), perceived behavioural control (PBC) affect both intention (BI) sustainable management behaviour (SWMB) mills Sabah, Malaysia. theory planned (TPB) serves as primary research, which uses a conceptual framework. Distributed questionnaires top 133 were used gather data, then they processed using Smart-PLS V4. research found out that SN PBC have influence individuals’ BI SWMB adaptations Sabah’s mills. was shown strongest association between BI. However, resulted no either engage or actions themselves. Ultimately, findings will give framework for governance Malaysia by contributing development legislative regulatory area is more effective.

A recently used material that shows environmental and technical advantages for use as an asphalt binder modifier is biochar (BC). Different biomasses can be converted into BC by pyrolysis. One agro-industrial biomass abundant in copious quantities oil palm mesocarp fiber (OPMF) obtained from African cultivation. In the present study, of a OPMF (BC-OPMF) (AC type) to produce hot mix (HMA) was evaluated. This type has not been investigated or reported reference literature and/or modifier. Initially, AC modified with three ratios (BC/AC = 5, 10, 15%, respect mass) perform penetration, softening point, rotational viscosity tests; rheological characterization at high intermediate temperatures; scanning electron microscope (SEM) visualization. Based on this experimental phase, BC/AC 10% chosen manufacture HMA. Resistance parameters under monotonic loading (stability—S, flow—F, S/F ratio Marshall test, indirect tensile strength dry—ITSD wet—ITSC conditions) cyclic (resilient modulus, permanent deformation, fatigue resistance stress-controlled were evaluated control HMA unmodified) Additionally, (TSR) calculated evaluate moisture damage. Abrasion raveling performing Cantabro tests. BC-OPMF shown sustainable promising modifying binders those seeking increase stiffness rutting high-temperature climates, damage, raveling, without increasing optimum content (OAC), changing volumetric composition manufacturing construction temperatures.
