Abstract Plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) burns easily and generates a lot of smoke during combustion. In order to improve the comprehensive performance plasticized PVC, hydrogenated nitrile‐butadiene rubber (HNBR) with different degrees saturation (88%, 94% 99%) were melt blended PVC. Compared PVC without HNBR, glass transition temperature decreased from −10.6 −26.0°C, initiation for thermal degradation increased 272 281°C, elongation at break enlarged 316% 477%, permanent set dropped 72% 61% when HNBR was added ratio 30 parts per hundred resin. However, this resulted in weakening tensile strength Additionally, cone calorimetry test, total production PVC/HNBR blends (from 18 22 m 2 ) lower than that control (23 time ignition 26 32 s. As result, is expected gain popularity plastic pipe, wire, cable sheathing industries. Highlights improves stability by blending HNBR. All samples have excellent low‐temperature resistance.
