Abstract
Background
A
dysfunction
in
insulin
secretion
or
action
leads
to
hyperglycemia.
Hyperglycemia
then
causes
the
activation
of
pathways
that
result
increased
production
reactive
oxygen
and
nitrogen
species
(ROS/RNS)
levels,
ultimately
causing
oxidative
stress.
Oxidative
stress
overload
cellular
damage
also
promotes
apoptosis
pathway
inducing
cell
death.
Thus,
regulation
glucose
homeostasis
prevent
hyperglycemia
is
crucial.
In
this
study,
potential
protective
effect
Kaempferia
galanga
herbal
extract
(KGE)
on

This
study
evaluates
the
potential
role
of
two
extracts
derived
from
green
and
roasted
coffee
in
managing
Type
2
Diabetes
(T2D).
The
phytochemical
analysis
revealed
that
extract
(RCE)
contains
higher
levels
flavonoids
tannins,
while
(GCE)
seems
to
be
richer
phenolic
acids.
No
differences
antioxidant
activity
both
were
observed.
demonstrated
GCE
exhibits
stronger
prebiotic
by
significantly
enhancing
growth
beneficial
probiotic
bacteria
when
compared
untreated
sample.
Both
inhibited
α-amylase
α-glucosidase
enzymes,
with
RCE
demonstrating
a
better
performance
than
other
commercial
treatments
for
T2D.
Glucose
uptake
assays
on
yeast
cells
enhance
glucose
transport,
particularly
at
low
concentrations,
reducing
supernatant
60–80%.
Notably,
maintained
its
effectiveness
even
highest
concentrations
tested.
These
findings
suggest
extracts,
GCE,
may
useful
as
nutraceuticals
potentially
regulating
metabolism
gut
microbiota
T2D
management.
