Although pervasive microplastics (MPs) pollution in terrestrial ecosystems invites increasing concern, impact of MPs on soil microbial community assembly, and ecosystem functions multifunctionality received relatively little attention. Here, we manipulated a mesocosm experiment to investigate how polyethylene (PE MPs; 0, 1%, 5%, w/w) influence plant production, quality, diversity enzymology carbon (C), nitrogen (N) phosphorus (P) cycling, maize–soil continuum. Results showed that PE exerted negligible effect biomass (dry weight). The 5% caused declines the availability water, C P, whereas enhanced pH storage. activity C-cycling enzymes (α/β-1, 4-glucosidase, β-D-cellobiohydrolase) was promoted by 1% MPs, while β-1, 4-glucosidase inhibited MPs. reduced N-cycling (protease urease), increased P-cycling enzyme (alkaline phosphatase). shifted composition, number specialist species, stability networks resistance. altered with concentration decreasing dispersal limitation proportion (from 13.66 9.96%). An on-going long term field experiment started in Rabi 1995 at the Research Farm of Department Soil Science, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, (India) under pearl millet-wheat cropping system was selected to study effect long-term application organic manures and fertilizers on soil carbon microbiological properties. Highest (SOC: 1.18 %), dissolved OC (DOC: 64.74 mg kg−1) content, microbial biomass C (MBC: 618.40 kg−1), dehydrogenase (DHA: 72.83 μg TPF g−1 24 hr−1), alkaline phosphatase (APA: 685.44 PNP hr−1) aryl sulfatase (ASA: 12.56 activities were observed with 15 Mg FYM+150 kg N+30 P2O5 ha−1. Microorganisms play crucial roles in phosphorus (P) turnover and P bioavailability increases heavy metal-contaminated soils. However, microbially driven P-cycling processes mechanisms of their resistance to metal contaminants remain poorly understood. Here, we examined the possible survival strategies microorganisms horizontal vertical soil samples from world's largest antimony (Sb) mining site, which is located Xikuangshan, China. We found that total Sb pH were primary factors affecting bacterial community diversity, structure traits. Bacteria with gcd gene, encoding an enzyme responsible for gluconic acid production, largely correlated inorganic phosphate (Pi) solubilization significantly enhanced bioavailability. Among 106 nearly complete metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) recovered, 60.4% carried gene. Pi transportation systems encoded by pit or pstSCAB widely present gcd-harboring bacteria, 43.8% bacteria also acr3 gene efflux pump. Phylogenetic potential transfer (HGT) analyses indicated could be a dominant mechanism, two MAGs appeared acquire through HGT.
