Airborne particulate matter (PM) is a pollutant of concern not only because its adverse effects on human health but also visibility and the radiative budget atmosphere. PM can be considered as sum solid/liquid species covering wide range particle sizes with diverse chemical composition. Organic aerosols may emitted (primary organic aerosols, POA), or formed in atmosphere following reaction volatile compounds (secondary SOA), some these partition between gas aerosol phases depending upon ambient conditions. This review focuses carbonaceous gaseous precursors by road traffic, including ultrafine particles (UFP) polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) that are clearly linked to evolution formation species. Clearly, solid fraction has been reduced during last two decades, implementation after-treatment systems abating approximately 99% primary mass concentrations. However, role brown carbon effect climate generation nucleation vapour dilution exhaust remain unclear phenomena will need further investigation. The increasing gasoline vehicles emissions highlighted, particularly through thermodynamic gases their propensity produce particles. remaining carbon-containing from brakes, tyres wear still problem even future full electrification vehicle fleet. Some key conclusions recommendations proposed support decision makers view next regulations worldwide.

The deterioration of air quality via anthropogenic activities during the night period has been deemed a serious concern among scientific community. Thereby, we explored outdoor particulate matter (PM) concentration and contributions from various sources day in winter spring 2021 megacity, northwestern China. results revealed that changes chemical compositions PM (motor vehicles, industrial emissions, coal combustion) at lead to substantial toxicity, oxidative potential (OP), OP/PM per unit mass, indicating high toxicity exposure risk nighttime. Furthermore, higher environmentally persistent free radical (EPFR) its significant correlation with OP were observed, suggesting EPFRs cause reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation. Moreover, noncarcinogenic carcinogenic risks systematically explained spatialized children adults, highlighting intensified hotspots epidemiological researchers. This better understanding day–night-based formation pathways their hazardous impact will assist guide measures diminish reduce disease led by pollution.

Complying with strict PM10 and PM2.5 limit values poses challenges in many European regions, influenced by diverse factors such as natural, regional, local anthropogenic sources. Urban air pollution, exacerbated road transport, industry, dust resuspension, contrasts rural areas affected solid fuel-based heating increasing wood burning. This study focuses on village of Sučany, located Slovakia, analysing PM concentrations during non-heating seasons. The method analysis relies the use MP101M quality analyser that utilises beta radiation absorption method. One set measurements was conducted at five distinct locations season (18/01/2019 to 28/02/2019) (14/08/2018 1/10/2018). Significant differences emerged corresponding averages 23.0 µg/m3 19.3 µg/m3. In contrast, averaged 53.9 52.8 season. shows contributing up 98% total PM10. distribution pollution location potential source obtained using polar plots differed research underscores impact a typical Slovak village. key recommendation for targeted interventions is supporting up-to-date data, education, financial incentives citizens order implement cleaner modern solutions.
