Loneliness, a significant public health issue, was exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in disaster-prone regions like U.S. Gulf Coast. This study examined how social and built environmental factors were associated with pandemic-related disruptions loneliness among respondents from third wave of Survey Trauma, Resilience, Opportunity Neighborhoods (STRONG). Using retrospective measure (pre-pandemic vs. pandemic), we found that increased significantly pandemic. routine behavior measures both objective (e.g., parks, walkability, etc.) subjective neighborhood safety, cohesion, factors, to daily routines strongly predicted higher loneliness, measures, such as lacking post-disaster support, more salient predictors than number parks one's neighborhood. Difficulty accessing green spaces housing distress linked greater disruptions, indirectly contributing loneliness. These findings highlight importance safe, supportive, accessible physical environments mitigating enhancing community resilience crises.

The creation of a dense, convenient, and diverse built environment is strategic approach for fostering urban development. However, few studies have considered the relationship between compact livability. This study seeks to answer following question: What type conducive long-term residency? Using Guangzhou district in China as case study, we develop livability-oriented assessment system integrate it into hedonic price model. We employ spatial regression methods analyze impact on housing prices, findings suggest that (1) environments are characterized by spaciousness, convenience, diversity. Environments with low building density, high heights, large plot area, land use highly favorable (2) intricate, different factors can affect livability areas within an space. POI (Point Interest) density road varies location. (3) principles small-scale blocks, high-density networks, planning not universally applicable construction livable cities. (4) heterogeneity pronounced. addresses standards dominated new urbanism. Under approach, planners managers should indiscriminately pursue

The reduction of social interactions through non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) has been shown to effectively curb COVID-19 transmission. However, these control measures were often accompanied by changes in people’s daily routines and constraints on their activity space, which could lead mental distress (i.e., anxiety depression). This study examined the interplay among individuals’ anxiety, depression, activities, perceptions neighborhood cohesion. Taking Hong Kong as an example, online survey (N = 376) was conducted collect data from participants between March 14 May 11, 2022. include respondents’ self-reported depressive symptoms, activities (e.g., smartphone use), possibility infecting COVID-19), Using network analysis, we found that excessive use, life disturbance COVID-19, a community with people getting along well each other significant factors associated participants’ depression. critical path observed NPIs reduced human mobility, led delayed bedtime, increased distress. We also infection severity mobility flexibility, may further Our results demonstrated high education levels vulnerable. These provided important insights for designing appropriate without generating deleterious impacts health future.

However, health impacts COVID-19 on farmers remain unexplored. Our objective was investigate outcomes among by gender within context COVID-19. We conducted a national, online, cross-sectional survey (February-May 2021). The included validated scales anxiety, depression, perceived stress, burnout (emotional exhaustion, cynicism, professional efficacy), alcohol use, resilience, questions regarding participants' changes these during pandemic. Data were also collected impact specific social economic factors health, help-seeking, sense community belonging through Descriptive statistics summarized, Chi-square analyses t-tests compare results between genders data our similar 2016 normative population data. A total 1167 participated survey. Participants scored more severely across scale norms Canadian Scale means consistent 2021 samples. Most participants with moderate severe scores for any outcome reported worsening symptoms since began. Women fared significantly worse men measures.
