Abstract Blue light exposure of the ocular apparatus is currently rising. This has motivated a growing concern about potential deleterious effects on different eye structures. To address this, ARPE-19 cells were used as model retinal pigment epithelium and subjected to cumulative expositions blue light. The most relevant cellular events previously associated with blue-light-induced damage assessed, including alterations in cell morphology, viability, proliferation, oxidative stress, inflammation, induction DNA repair mechanisms. Consistent previous reports, our results provide evidence resulting from repeated irradiation. In this context, we explored protective properties vegetal extract Polypodium leucotomos , Fernblock® (FB), using widely known treatment lutein reference for comparison. only changes observed result sole either FB or slight but significant increase γH2AX + raise nuclear levels NRF2. Overall, findings indicate that (similarly lutein) prior irradiation can alleviate RPE cells, specifically preventing drop both viability percentage EdU well ROS generation, nuclei (more efficiently FB), TNF-α secretion (the latter restored by similar those control). On contrary, P21 expression upon was not prevented neither nor lutein. Notably, translocation NRF2 induced pre-treated FB, while pre-treatment resulted control suggesting key differences mechanism protection exerted these compounds. Oxidative degradation is a powerful method to degrade plastics into oligomers and small oxidized products. While thermal energy has been conventionally employed as an external stimulus, recent advances in photochemistry have enabled photocatalytic oxidative of polymers under mild conditions. This tutorial review presents overview degradation, from its earliest examples emerging strategies. briefly discusses the motivation development with focus on underlying mechanisms. Then, we will examine modern studies primarily relevant catalytic degradation. Lastly, highlight some unique using unconventional approaches for polymer such electrochemistry.

Light use is rising steeply, mainly because of the advent light-emitting diode (LED) devices. LEDs are frequently blue-enriched light sources and may have different impacts on non-image forming (NIF) system, which maximally sensitive to blue-wavelength light. Most importantly, timing LED device widespread, leading novel exposure patterns NIF system. Abstract Exposure of the eyes to blue light can induce overproduction reactive oxygen species (ROS) in retina and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells, potentially leading pathological damage age‐related macular degeneration (AMD). While melanin RPE cells absorbs prevents ROS accumulation, loss dysfunction due changes may contribute photooxidation toxicity. Herein, a novel approach utilizing polydopamine‐replenishing strategy via single‐dose intravitreal (IVT) injection is presented protect against light‐induced phototoxicity. To investigate effects overexposure on exposure Nrf2‐deficient mouse model created, which susceptible lesions. After irradiation, an are observed. The demonstrated effectiveness maintaining structural integrity preventing by reducing production limiting phototoxicity exposure. These findings highlight potential polydopamine as simple effective replenishment for providing photoprotection high‐energy

Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNNs) have shown remarkable success in image classification tasks, but optimizing their hyperparameters can be challenging due to complex structure. This paper develops the Adaptive Habitat Biogeography-Based Optimizer (AHBBO) for tuning of DCNNs tasks. In complicated optimization problems, BBO suffers from premature convergence and insufficient exploration. this regard, an adaptable habitat is presented as a solution these problems; it would permit variable sizes regulated mutation. Better performance greater chance finding high-quality solutions across wide range problem domains are results modification's increased exploration population diversity. AHBBO tested on 53 benchmark functions demonstrates its effectiveness improving initial stochastic converging faster optimum. Furthermore, DCNN-AHBBO compared 23 well-known classifiers nine problems shows superior reducing error rate by up 5.14%. Our proposed algorithm outperforms 13 87 out 95 evaluations, providing high-performance reliable DNNs research contributes field deep learning proposing new that improve efficiency neural networks classification.

The widespread use of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) has increased blue light (BL) exposure, raising concerns about its potential adverse effects on ocular health. Prolonged exposure to BL been implicated in the pathogenesis various retinal disorders, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), primarily through mechanisms involving oxidative stress and inflammation mediated by overproduction reactive oxygen species (ROS). This review synthesizes current evidence photoprotective properties dietary bioactive compounds, (e.g., anthocyanins, curcumin, quercetin, myricetin, resveratrol), with a focus their mitigate BL-induced damage. Accumulating research suggests that antioxidants, particularly polyphenols, may offer benefits. These phytochemicals act neutralizing ROS enhancing retina's endogenous antioxidant capacity. Based these findings, this advocates for food-first approach future investigations, emphasizing development evidence-based recommendations bolster health risk BL-related diseases. Considering lack empirical clinical studies examining impact human health, field hazard should prioritize two key approaches: conducting large-scale epidemiological surveys implementing trials functional ingredients have demonstrated beneficial against photodamage preclinical animal studies.

Blue light emitted by commercial white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) in the 440-470 nm range poses ocular health risks with prolonged exposure. Effective filtration is crucial for health-conscious lighting, but traditional filters often cause color distortion completely removing blue emission. In this study, we address challenge synthesizing carbon dots (CDs) strong absorption at 460 and bright cyan emission 485 nm, featuring a photoluminescence quantum yield of 65% narrow full width half-maximum 30 nm. When embedded poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) matrix, CDs@PVA films effectively filter UV-to-blue light, reducing blue-light ratio from 27.2% to 2.7%. At same time, preserves light's spectral composition, achieving rendering index 83 ± 5. This dual functionality demonstrates potential CDs enable safer WLEDs that improve both lighting quality.

ABSTRACT The widespread use of electronic devices has led to increased blue light exposure, highlighting the need for effective radiation blockers with protection. Two synthetic 2‐(2′‐hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole derivatives named azo‐4′‐benzoxazole and azo‐5′‐benzoxazole have shown an unprecedented absorption capacity but had not been subjected a safety evaluation. This study aimed evaluate cytotoxic, genotoxic, mutagenic activities these compounds. cytotoxic genotoxic were evaluated using MTT assay comet in L929 fibroblast cells. Salmonella /microsome micronucleus test performed detect gene chromosomal mutations. IC 50 was 87.9 μg/mL 79.5 azo‐5′‐benzoxazole. In assay, compound induced frameshift mutations TA97a strain presence metabolic activation (S9 mix), while did show all five strains tested. showed effects cells that probably associated cleavage azo‐5′ into its analogs 2‐(4′‐amino‐2′‐hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole 2‐amino‐1‐naphthol. conclusion, azo‐substituted group at 5′ position phenyl ring appears greater toxicological risks than substituents 4′ 2‐(phenyl)benzoxazole. findings warrant further preclinical studies ensure compounds as filters.
