Nowadays, legal regulations and social environmental concerns are converging towards the promotion of more sustainable agriculture based on organic compounds soil preservation. These trends fuelling growth biofertilizers, which beneficial preparations containing microorganisms able to enhance a plant’s ability uptake essential nutrients. Their production commercialization encompass multitude critical steps deeply reviewed in this manuscript through an exhaustive overview key stages, such as microorganism selection, new sources, upscaling field trials, encapsulation, current application systems regulatory considerations. However, although economical expectations promising, several methodological, environmental, undermining their advancement. The redefinition international frameworks, enhancement trending technologies, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration across sectors players promote biofertilizers eco-friendly cost-effective alternatives chemical fertilizers.

The application of fertilizers is necessary for continuous replenishment plants nutrients, sustaining the productivity soils. Inorganic are very simple, chemically defined, water soluble, and easily absorbed immediate reproducible responses in plants. In excess needs however, they do not only scorch plants, but also lost to atmosphere as greenhouse gases. Prolonged usage leads reduced soil quality, acidification (accompanied by dissolution carbonate gases emission), contamination underground water. Increasing nutrients use efficiency ameliorates these problems ensuring a better synchronization availability with uptake. Without increasing frequency fertilization associated labor cost (encountered split-fertilization), enhanced (EEFs) gradually make available over long period time, that met after single seasonal fertilization, without compromising integrity soil. EEFs benefits environment retarding availability; some materials used formulation impact beneficial qualities (e.g., improved structure, erosion) production EEFs, such coated fertilizers, depending on nature coat, completely environmentally friendly; effects certain due variability between fertilizer batches conditions. These challenges development different potential solutions, their formulation, addition advantages discussed. information contained herein expected arouse more research sustainable assist farmers selecting best kind condition, crops production, while health.

Phosphorus is an essential macronutrient for plant growth, but its low availability in soil often limits crop yields. Although abundant soil, much of the phosphorus exists insoluble forms, rendering it inaccessible to plants. Farmers address this issue with chemical fertilizers, their excessive use poses environmental risks and undermines sustainability. A promising alternative phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms, such as biofertilizers, which enhance while reducing reliance on inputs. Phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) convert phosphate into soluble improving uptake by When applied or plants, these fertility, boost productivity, support sustainable agriculture. This book chapter explores role growth advancing eco-friendly farming practices.

The global agricultural sector faces significant challenges due to increasing demands from a growing population, limited arable land and the environmental degradation caused by chemical inputs. As potential solution, microbial inoculants, particularly arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), offer an eco-friendly alternative traditional fertilizers pesticides. AMF enhance plant growth improving nutrient water uptake while protecting against stressors, fostering sustainable agriculture. This study explores production, development, application of bioformulations, emphasizing key requirements for their effectiveness, including strain selection, genetic stability, compatibility, other beneficial carriers. Advances in production methods such as substrate-based systems, bioreactors, solid media are discussed, along with role synergistic combinations productivity. Additionally, shelf-life, quality control bioformulations addressed, focus on adjuvants, fillers, storage methods. Risk evaluation biosafety concerns related use novel strains examined, context regulatory frameworks that classify biostimulants or biopesticides. Barriers widespread adoption, farmer awareness, product quality, constraints, identified. Despite these obstacles, inoculants practices remains high, provided ongoing research, collaboration between stakeholders can address challenges.
