Phytopharmaceuticals are the newly termed herbal medicine, which includes standardized extract, bioactive fraction, and phytoconstituent. They have been practiced to cure, treat, mitigate diseases. many health benefits, but their therapeutic efficacy is limited due poor absorption, low bioavailability, early elimination profile. A novel phospholipid complex a introduced patented technology developed incorporate plant extracts/fractions or water-soluble phytoconstituents into phospholipids produce lipid compatible molecular complex, called phytosome, improves absorption bioavailability. In formulations, phytosome most advanced dosage form that has an upgraded rate enhanced pharmacokinetics compared with conventional products. The results from hydrogen bonding between phytoconstituents, offering maximum incorporation of active ingredients lipidic layer core. increased formation amphiphilic phospholipid-complex medicine. This review highlights role on delivery bioactives natural extracts particular emphasis phytosomes. Moreover, status bioavailabilities, commercial products, patents, clinical trials phytosomal systems phytopharmaceuticals were addressed.
