Cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (cyanoHABs) are a natural phenomenon produced mainly by the interaction between and anthropogenic events. CyanoHABs characterized production of cyanotoxins that can have effects on different species within food web even affect human health. Among most prevalent toxin groups worldwide microcystins (MCs), anatoxins (ATXs), cylindrospermopsins (CYNs) nodularins (NODs), which as toxins with hepatotoxic, neurotoxic, cytotoxic effects. This review summarizes analyzes research influence cyanoHABs, main toxin-producing cyanobacteria in freshwater marine bodies, highlighting their global occurrence, toxicology, bioaccumulation dynamics vectors web, cases acute chronic intoxications humans. is useful for understanding cyanoHABs’ ecosystem impact health, how implementation surveillance management framework could generate vital information stakeholders to establish health guidelines risks hazards cyanoHABs

This study investigates the ecological effects of weirs on water quality and phytoplankton communities in South Han River (SHR) over a two-year period. By focusing three key weirs—Kangcheon Weir, Yeoju Ipo Weir—the research examines how artificial structures influence river hydrodynamics, nutrient cycles, algal growth patterns. Utilizing measurements, analysis, environmental factor assessments, identifies significant fluctuations parameters abundance across surveyed points. The analysis reveals direct correlation between conditions such as temperature, flow rates, concentrations, particularly nitrogen phosphorus, proliferation harmful cyanobacteria, notably Microcystis. highlights critical role comprehensive management strategies that consider hydraulic residence time, balance, temperature regulation to mitigate impacts ecosystems improve SHR.

Over the decades, aquaculture sector has witnessed substantial growth, contributing significantly to nation’s economy. However, menace of CyanoHABs threatens sustainability fish farming. Considering possible hazards linked cyanotoxins in food and water, a comparative study design between commercial Nigeria South Africa was employed investigate water from fishponds. Six fishponds Calabar Municipality—Nigeria Duthuni—South with varying climatic zones were selected. Water samples ponds collected at intervals during different seasons (summer, winter, dry, wet seasons) capture climate-induced variation. Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LCMS) combination metabolites database used for identification toxic cyanometabolites samples. The molecular networking approach, coupled Global Natural Products Social Molecular Networking (GNPS) CANOPUS annotation, enabled putative cyanometabolites. resulting network unveiled discernible clusters representing related molecule families, aiding both known unfamiliar analogues. Furthermore, revealed that shared specific metabolites, including ethanesulfonic acid, pheophorbide A, cholic phenylalanine, amyl amine, phosphocholine (PC), sulfonic despite variations location, local factors, sampling sites. showed presence multiple cyanotoxin classes wet, summer water. Aflatoxin identified all sites (N1, N2, N3). Duthuni, Africa, (P1, P2, P3) exhibited microginins microcystins. All displayed widespread occurrence anabaenopeptins, aplysiatoxins, aflatoxin, microcolins, marabmids selected summer. In conclusion, untargeted metabolome analysis, guided by GNPS, proved highly effective identifying non-toxic

A total 60 pirarucus specimens were used with an initial average weight 499 ± 36 g length 40.30 10.10 cm, stocked densities four per fish tank network 48 m2 water surface. Feed provided three times a day (8 am, 1 6 pm), five different crude (CP) in diet: 34, 36; 38 40 45% CP. euthanized at 310 experimental days 8.0 1.0 kg body weight. Blood samples collected by tail vessel venipuncture, divided into two aliquots 2 mL for determination blood count. results submitted analysis variance regression CP levels, showed as averages followed standard deviation. Orthogonal contrasts applied verify linear quadratic effects 5% significance. It observed that referring count, given erythrocytes, hemoglobin, packed cell volume, MCV, HCM, CHCM, glucose proteins no differences between diets. values 3.80 0.30 L-1, triglycerides shown 43.45 5.65 56.98 5.80 mg dL-1, respectively. maximum cholesterol level 120.00 13.33 dL-1 obtained 35.4% growth phase. Abstract Water eutrophication is a significant environmental issue that impacts aquatic ecosystems worldwide. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationships among water physicochemical characteristics, phytoplankton community, and cyanotoxins in Ubol Ratana Dam, Khon Kaen, Thailand, during years 2022–2023 evaluate between changes parameters dynamics of community under seasonal variations Dam. A total 84 species belonging 8 phyla were found six different locations reservoir. Cyanobacteria (Cyanophyta) had highest cell density (84.06%), with Microcystis aeruginosa being dominant species. terms seasonality, diversity indices, including Shannon‒Wiener evenness values, summer lowest rainy season, while richness remained constant. Interestingly, was greater at center dam outlet stations than other stations, these two areas also nitrate ammonium concentrations. Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) explained 66.8%, 70.6%, 63.8% variation rainy, winter, seasons, respectively. This indicates factors influenced growth. Correlation revealed abundance cyanobacteria positively correlated temperature orthophosphate content negatively content. Overall, nitrogen concentration mainly governed cyanobacterial blooms. These results suggest significantly influence phytoplankton, providing valuable insights for future monitoring

This study investigated the abundance of zooplankton copepods and ostracods taxonomic groups in fish farms Rondônia's Vale do Jamari Centro-Leste microregions during rainy dry seasons. It also analyzed correlation between zooplanktons presence acanthocephalan parasites. Conducted 41 November 2021 September 2023, included water, zooplankton, samples from 196 Colossoma macropomum. The results showed that 95% had infected with Neoechinorhynchus buttnerae, varying parasitism levels. Georeferencing revealed higher parasite densities municipalities Ariquemes, Monte Negro, Machadinho Oeste, Buritis (Vale Jamari), as well Urupá, Ji-Paraná, Ouro Preto Teixeirópolis (Centro-Leste), clusters heat islands latter group. Water quality parameters were suitable for raising C. could serve indicators parasitic infestations, highlighting importance monitoring communities. approach is valuable detecting changes artificial ecosystems, such farms, which lead to significant long-term effects.
