Adsorption-desorption experiments of three heavy metal ions (i.e., lead, copper, cadmium) in silty soil were carried out at different temperatures, and the microscopic characteristics loaded with analyzed. A one-dimensional column was used to discuss influences ion types concentrations on moisture distribution migration level ions, especially during dynamic change process from an unsaturated state a saturated state. Studies show that adsorption onto is closely related mineral composition functional groups soil. In addition physical adsorption, hydrolysis reaction components such as kaolinite, calcite, dolomite, plagioclase quartz. Under constant temperature, play important role presence penetration lead greatest, followed by copper then cadmium ions. The greater concentration is, stronger soils.

Process affected water and other industrial wastewaters are a major environmental concern. During oil sands mining, large amounts of process (OSPW) generated stored in ponds until reclaimed ready for surface discharge. While much research has focused on organics waters, trace metals at high concentrations may also pose risks. Phytoremediation is cost effective sustainable approach that employs plants to extract reduce contaminants water. The was undertaken mesocosm scale constructed wetlands with exposed OSPW 60 days. objective screen seven native emergent wetland species their ability tolerate metal (arsenic, cadmium, copper, chromium, nickel, selenium, zinc), then evaluate the best performing phytoremediation. All plant species, except Glyceria grandis, tolerated grew OSPW. Carex aquatilis (water sedge), Juncus balticus (baltic rush), Typha latifolia (cattail) had highest survival growth, removal efficiencies arsenic (81-87 %), chromium (78-86 cadmium (74-84 relative metals; greater than 91 % dissolved portions were removed. efficient accumulators all metals, as demonstrated by root shoot bioaccumulation factors; accumulation accumulation. Translocation factor values one (chromium, zinc) (cadmium, cobalt, nickel). results demonstrate potential suitability these phytoremediation number concern could provide an environmentally sound remediation wastewaters.

Coal fly ash and acid mine drainage are significant environmental issues in South Africa, causing storage constraints impacting water quality. This study explores the use of coal preparing zeolite HBEA-supported Fe catalysts. The Na-BEA parent catalysts were synthesised hydrothermally using as a feedstock. was loaded upon H-BEA form liquid-phase ion exchange or wet impregnation, Fe-rich metal precursor. ion-exchanged Fe-BEA exhibited excellent activity, with highest selectivity achieved over 25 AHW after 0.5 h on stream. also found that when impregnation used to load onto support, other metals present AMD affected overall Mn, Ca, Mg, Na decreasing conversion selectivity, while Ni had promoting effect. demonstrates green solid high catalytic activity can be prepared two waste materials, drainage. To best our knowledge, we reporting for first time precursor catalyst preparation.
