The failure of rock in cold regions due to repeated freeze–thaw (F-T) cycles and periodic load-induced fatigue damage presents a significant challenge. This study investigates the evolution multi-scale structure fractured granite under combined loading develops constitutive model. results indicate that after F-T cycles, network cracks develop around pre-existing cracks, accompanied by block-like spalling. After applying load, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) T2 spectrum shifts right, significantly increasing amplitude third peak. process induces “liquid–solid” phase transition, weakening original pore rocks leading meso-damage accumulation. pores progressively enlarge interconnect, reducing rock’s load-bearing capacity resistance. effects induce particle movement alter fracture modes within rock, subsequently affecting its macro-damage characteristics. theoretical curves model align with experimental data. findings can serve as reference for preventing controlling engineering disasters masses regions.

Research on the damage and fracture mechanism of freeze-thaw (F-T) rocks under loading is a key scientific endeavor derived from numerous safety concerns in cold region rock mass engineering. This study analyzed relationship between entire triaxial compression process red sandstone acoustic emission parameters. Based nonlinear growth characteristics cumulative event counts emission, predictive method was proposed for determining crack initiation strength, failure strength F-T sandstone. The results demonstrated that this exhibited good consistency with volume strain approach accurately conveniently predicted sample strength. fitted curve equation closely aligned experimental data. These findings offer insights into classification mechanisms provide valuable groundwork research prediction forecasting methods employing monitoring.

The presence of rock mass fractures has always been a subject study for the prevention and control related natural disasters. To understand effects different dip angles horizontal distances on crack development, numerical simulation experiments Brazilian disks under uniaxial compression were con-ducted using PFC2D particle flow program. A function module was utilized to monitor expansion quantity cracks. results 0° conditions in good agreement with experimental results, validating rationality simulation. indicate that: single fracture angles, samples between 30° 60° produced typical wing-shaped At 0°, cracks propagat-ed through center fracture, while at 90°, initiated from tip propagated sample. peak stress number first decreased then increased increase angle, reaching maximum 90°. For double varying distances, all Their monotonically distance, distance 30mm. confirmed that program can effectively simulate process initiation research findings provide reference correctly understanding mechanics fractured masses.
