Purpose of review The aims to explore the recent evidence on associations between different dietary fat intake and cognitive function, understand role telomere length in this relationship. Recent findings Clinical preclinical studies included suggest that is associated with function length. High saturated fats trans fats, commonly found ultra-processed foods, appears have negative effects length, while other such as omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids monounsaturated are improved performance reduced attrition. Controversial results related omega-6 its impact were found. Dietary may affect cognition through oxidative stress, inflammation, insulin resistance. Summary current illustrated relationship by focusing a potential intermediator. More future required, however, order develop targeted interventions aimed at preserving well-being throughout life.

Cognition is reduced at low and high glucose, reflecting cognitive vulnerability to glucose (CVG) fluctuations. The impact of fluctuations on the aging brain remains unclear. We examined whether CVG associated with plasma biomarkers Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology neurodegeneration. In this study, the impact of lentil hull soluble dietary fibers (SDFs) on colitis and behavioral deficits in mice was assessed. Structural characterizations SDFs confirmed that cellulase-modified fiber exhibited better physicochemical properties: more porous microstructure; similar polysaccharide structure; stable particle size distribution; higher crystallinity; adsorption capacity; lower viscosity. Additionally, we explored its potential cognitive benefits via gut-brain axis by tests, histopathology, 16S rRNA sequencing, gas chromatography metabolomics analysis. The results showed significantly improved inflammatory symptoms colon brain behaviors. LSDF had efficacy than HSDF. intervention decreased harmful bacteria abundance (Bacteroides, Flexispira Escherichia, etc.) increased beneficial (Aggregatibacter Helicobacter, etc.). also affected metabolites through sphingolipid metabolism. Spearman correlation analysis there a positive between with factors (LPS, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, metabolites, while were positively correlated brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), IL-10, behavior. This study highlights value future diet-based therapeutic strategies targeting interactions.

Abstract As a dietary supplement, the efficacy of prebiotics has become hot issue in recent years. Inulin is one internationally recognized and belongs to group non‐digestible fermentable carbohydrates. Currently, food industry increasingly using prebiotic inulin as health‐promoting substrate, not just supplement. In addition, also shown great promise treatment various diseases. This article reviews application summarizes physiological function inulin. Through review prospect research on obesity, diabetes mental illness, it provides theoretical basis for joint development medical application.

Abstract Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) stand for a group of disorders characterized by the progressive loss neurons in brain and peripheral organs, resulting motor cognitive dysfunction. The global prevalence NDs, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's Huntington's amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is on rise globally, primarily due to an aging population, positioning NDs as increasing significant public health concern. Despite intensive research, few effective therapies that prevent or delay ND progression have been developed. Mounting evidence indicates one well‐defined risk factors type 2 diabetes mellitus, insulin resistance has also proven be related decline. Certain antidiabetic drugs, such glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists, peroxisome proliferator‐activated gamma metformin, shown promise offering neuroprotective benefits alleviating symptoms beyond their glucose‐lowering effects. Although exact mechanisms remain elusive, these drugs offer promising novel strategy managing disorders. In this review, we first highlight specific effects multiple discuss main action treating NDs. These include reducing protein aggregation improving apoptosis, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, neuroinflammation. Finally, summarize clinical trials evaluating

Psychotic depression (PD) is a highly debilitating disorder characterized by hallucinations and/or delusions accompanied depression. A variety of neurotransmitters, hormones and corresponding receptors in the endocrine system are involved onset progression depression, fasting blood glucose (FBG) can be an important indicator for monitoring stability system. The aim this study was to investigate relationship between FBG PD Chinese population with first-episode drug-naïve (FEDN) major depressive (MDD). In study, 1718 outpatient individuals diagnosed (FEDN MDD) were included. association levels identified through multivariable binary logistic regression analysis. To potential non-linear relationships, two-piecewise linear model utilized. Additionally, interaction stratified analyses performed based on gender, educational background, marital status, presence comorbid anxiety, history suicide attempt. Multivariate analysis showed that positively associated risk FEDN MDD patients (OR = 1.68, 95% CI: 1.31 2.13; P < 0.05). Smoothed plots PD, while inflection point calculated using two-segmented 6.23 mmol/L. On right side point, probability increased substantially 278% 3.78, 1.75 8.18, p 0.001), no significant observed left 1.06, 0.73 1.52, 0.772). Our investigation revealed nonlinear MDD, thereby informing more effective intervention strategies managing psychotic symptoms
