Incompressible deep wound bleeding is difficult to control and remains a formidable challenge. Here, water-triggered self-expanding hemostatic sponge (AG/GA-CS) was prepared using agarose (AG) gallic acid-modified chitosan (GA-CS) via sequential physical mixing, freeze-drying, compression fixation process. The AG/GA-CS showed high mechanical performance can expand rapidly after absorbing liquid, which provide pressure on the close it ultimately form barrier promote hemostasis. In addition, good antioxidant effectively inhibited bacterial proliferation. Moreover, absorb blood efficient aggregation activation of negatively charged erythrocytes platelets its surface, further significantly improving clotting efficiency. On this basis, in vivo, effect investigated three hemorrhage animal models, namely, mouse liver puncture model, femoral artery rat defect model. Results suggested that superior effects compared with commercial gelatin sponge. particular, total amount sharply reduced by about five times within 5 s Therefore, sponges potential applications hemostasis incompressible wounds.
